Songs to Help Women Sing Better: Practice Tracks for Improving at Karaoke
Conditions for becoming a better singer.
Of course, acquiring correct and efficient vocal production is the most important point, but if you can’t apply the fundamentals you’ve learned to actual songs, it won’t amount to much.
To build that kind of “real-world ability,” it’s crucial to choose appropriate practice songs and, by singing them, develop the expressive skills needed to perform actual pieces.
In this article, I’ve selected songs that seem optimal for the goal of “getting better at singing.”
Even when someone says, “I want to become a better singer,” everyone’s current level varies, so I’ve chosen a wide range—from beginner-friendly songs to more difficult ones.
Some of the individual song introduction articles also include brief tips on how to sing them, so please use those as references and do your best to further improve your skills with the help of this article.
That said, the most important thing is to pick songs you love—the ones that make you think, “I want to sing this!” or “I want to be able to sing this!”—and enjoy singing them.

I want to tell you how I feel (my love)Aimyon

Aimer’s second single, released in May 2017.
This pick might be a bit for advanced singers.
The lyrics are packed overall, so there are many fast-paced parts, and the chorus requires a slightly higher vocal range.
However, you can adjust the karaoke key to suit your voice.
I hope you can use it as a practice song to help you keep up with the rhythm even when singing rapid vocal lines.
MarigoldAimyon

It’s Aimyon’s fifth major-label single, released in August 2018.
The vocal melody is built mainly around the mid-range, so in that sense it should be relatively easy to sing even for those whose vocal range isn’t very wide.
However, if you listen closely, there are many spots where you need to change pitch continuously, making it an ideal song for mastering that kind of vocal expression.
Also, to deliver this mid-tempo track with a solid sense of rhythm, how you handle the rests within the vocal melody is important, so be sure to listen carefully to the original and study it.
If you call it loveUru

Uru is a Japanese singer-songwriter.
She has earned numerous tie-ins so many people have likely heard her songs.
One of her greatest charms is the beauty of her mix voice and falsetto.
Many listeners are captivated by her clear, translucent vocals that even evoke a sacred atmosphere.
Her contrasting vocal expressions are also noteworthy, from a gentle, whisper-like delivery to a powerful, expansive style.
Negotiationbewitching goldfish

An R&B duo in Japan known for their exceptional taste and highly regarded by hardcore music aficionados, Yoen Kingyo.
Their signature is R&B with a strong hip-hop flavor, and while they remain under the radar, they’ve created numerous hidden gems.
Their new track, “Negotiation,” is a neo-soul piece reminiscent of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, featuring melodic rap and exquisitely layered choruses.
Since every part sits in the low to low-mid range, it definitely demands groove, but in terms of vocal range, it’s a very singable song for women with lower voices.
Swaying feelingsZARD

ZARD’s 8th single, released on May 19, 1993.
Benefiting from the backdrop of J-pop’s golden age, it became ZARD’s second million-selling hit.
At the time, the industry as a whole was very conscious of how new songs would fare in the karaoke market, so this track was crafted as a pop song with a vocal melody that’s extremely easy to sing and remember.
Because of that, it might be considered more of a beginner-friendly choice for karaoke practice.
When you sing it, be sure to practice with careful attention to accurately tracing the vocal melody, the lyrics, and the rhythm!
HeavenRei

Rei is a multi-artist who’s drawing attention not only as a singer-songwriter but also as a guitarist.
You could even call her a female version of MIYAVI.
Among her songs, the one I especially recommend for aiming a high score is “Heaven.” While you do need to feel the groove, the vocal range is narrow and there are no parts that require sudden jumps in pitch, so anyone with solid rhythm can aim for a high score without trouble.
Unrequited loveAimer

Included on Aimer’s fourth album “daydream,” released on September 21, 2016.
Given that it’s a song performed by Aimer, whose vocal ability is widely acclaimed, I feel that singing this piece in a way that expresses it as she does is quite challenging.
Precisely for that reason, however, it may be one of the best practice pieces for enriching your vocal expression.
Together with the simple arrangement of the backing track, try practicing so that you can sing expressively while maintaining the unique, gently “soft image” that runs throughout the song.
