Karaoke songs that make it easy to score 100 points [for women]

With the rise of K-pop in recent years, the difficulty level of Japanese music has risen significantly.

In karaoke scoring—where pitch control is paramount, especially because melodies now tend to jump more drastically—there seem to be far fewer songs with which you can realistically aim for a perfect 100.

So this time, we’ve selected easy-to-sing tracks, focusing on recent releases, that you can target for a 100! We’ve also included concrete technique explanations from a vocal coach, so be sure to read through to the end!

Brandy Senki is a girls’ band whose sophisticated musicality has earned them high praise within the industry.

If you’re a woman tuned into stylish music, you’ve probably heard of them.

Among their releases, the one I especially recommend is “27:00.” The structure places the verses (A and B sections) in the lower register and lifts slightly from the chorus, but the melodies in every part are gentle in range, making it easy to stay on pitch.

The chorus doesn’t demand a particularly wide range either, so if you can produce stable mid-to-high notes, you should be able to aim for a high score without trouble.

DiamondPrincess Princess

Princess Princess 'Diamonds <Diamond>'
Diamond Princess・Princess

This is the seventh single by the Japanese girls’ rock band Princess Princess, released in April 1989.

It’s also known as the band’s first song to break into the top 10 of the Oricon charts, and a major hit.

The vocal melody and lyrics are very poppy and approachable, making it easy to hum along to, which I think helped it become such a big hit.

It’s a very bright and fun track, but it also features a bouncy, slightly Motown-style rhythm that really stands out, so be careful not to let the rhythm get too flat when you sing it.

Personally, I’d love for you to just forget about scores and sing it freely for fun!

Swampiri

Swampiri

Among contemporary female singers, iri stands out for her strikingly cool low register.

Because her music is rooted in R&B, most of her songs are quite challenging.

However, Swamp is different.

Although it’s her new track, it incorporates a touch of alternative rock and features a vocal line that’s easy to sing throughout.

On top of that, the range is narrow and there are no long sustained notes, so it’s no exaggeration to say that this is one of the easiest iri songs to sing.

"By your side." — Lilia.

This is singer-songwriter Riria.

‘s ninth digital single, released in July 2023.

It was chosen as the opening theme for the TV anime My Happy Marriage.

The song is composed with a very gentle melody throughout, so it might be easier to aim for a perfect 100 at karaoke.

Try singing while cherishing each and every word of the lyrics, paying close attention to clear pronunciation and vocal delivery.

Be careful not to let your voice or singing get sloppy toward the end of the song.

The fifth single by Wink, a Japanese idol duo consisting of Sachiko Suzuki and Shoko Aida, released in July 1989.

Perhaps because it came out toward the end of the bubble era, the song exudes an effortless chic vibe throughout.

The vocals are delivered in a light, almost humming style, making it an excellent choice when you want to aim for a perfect 100 in karaoke.

Try singing it with a light touch from start to finish.

Meg Ousaka, a TikToker who gained nationwide popularity with “I’m mad about pre-sliced butter!” is now active as a singer-songwriter and has a devoted following in some circles.

Among her songs, the one I especially recommend is “72 Points, Etcetera.” Its slightly fast tempo and bright tone can make it easy to miss, but the song actually has a fairly narrow vocal range, so it’s easy to sing regardless of your voice type.

The vocal lines also contain few phrases that require vibrato or long sustained notes, making it undoubtedly a beginner-friendly track.

FriendsREBECCA

REBECCA “Friends” (Shibuya Public Hall, Dec 25, 1985)
Friends REBECCA

It’s Rebecca’s fourth single overall, released on October 21, 1985.

Chosen as the ending theme for the Nippon TV drama “Half Potato na Oretachi,” it became a mega-hit and sold over a million copies.

The track features a somewhat techno-like rhythm that leaves a strong impression, while the vocal melody is very simple and doesn’t use a particularly wide range.

So for karaoke, you might be able to score quite high just by singing it lightly, as if humming along.

Pay attention to the articulation of vowels and consonants and keep in rhythm when you sing.
