Funny songs recommended for men in their 40s

You get into your thirties, start feeling settled into working life, and before you know it, you’re in your forties…

There must be many people who feel this way.

It’s also said that this stage of life comes with heavier responsibilities at work and increased stress.

So we’ve put together a selection of songs that might make men in this age group smile and feel energized.

Interesting songs recommended for men in their 40s (41–50)

KOME KOME WARKome Kome Club

Included on the 1988 album “GO FUNK.” A six-piece rock band formed in 1982.

Riding on an uptempo, developing funk groove, the lyrics are made up of a string of nonsensical words—perfectly silly in a way that’s very funk—and that, paradoxically, makes it really click.

Lovin’ YouKiichi Yokoyama

A single released in 1993.

It was the theme song for TBS’s broadcast of the 1993 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

The musician was born in 1961 and hails from Hokkaido.

It’s a refreshing track featuring his light, breezy vocals over an upbeat, danceable rhythm and a melody driven by digital synthesizer sounds.

Let's walkJUN SKY WALKER(S)

The title track from the 1989 album “Aruite Ikō” (“Let’s Keep Walking”).

A four-piece rock band formed in 1980 by students of Jiyu Gakuen.

With drums that lay down a simple, straightforward rock beat and guitar sounds pushed to the forefront, the powerful vocals ride the rock sound to create a track that’s quintessentially them.

Kick & LoudGEISHA GIRLS

The B-side track of the 1994 single “Grandma Is Still Alive.” A five-member rap unit formed in 1994.

This song was released by the comedy duo Downtown in collaboration with Ryuichi Sakamoto.

While the musical backing is a solid, cutting-edge sound, the two members of Downtown, dressed as geisha, sing and sprinkle in somewhat odd Japanese rap, making for a wonderfully enigmatic number.

In one go!Tunnels

A single released in 1984.

A comedy duo from Teikyo High School formed in 1980.

When performing this song, they appeared in a school-uniform style like the one shown on the jacket.

During a performance of this song on All Night Fuji, they got carried away and ended up causing an incident in which they broke a camera.

Wonderful UsAngie

A single released in 1988.

A four-piece rock band from Yamaguchi Prefecture formed in 1980.

It’s a cool track where the vocals deliver positive lyrics over a rock sound built on an uptempo, aggressively unfolding rhythm and a solid, guitar-driven foundation.

BE MY BABYCOMPLEX

For men in their 40s, it’s a rite of passage: Complex’s “Be My Baby.” The intro—“Be my baby, be my baby…”—already hits hard.

Personally, I also like “Ai wo Tomenaide” (“Don’t Stop Love”), but in terms of name recognition, this one wins.
