[Kagerou Project] A roundup of popular songs from the Kagerou Project series (1–10)
Headphone Actorjin

With razor-sharp guitar and a heavy, thudding bassline, this track is irresistibly cool.
Released in 2011, “Headphone Actor” is a piece that features Takane Enomoto—a character from the novel Kagerou Daze II: a_headphone_actor—as its protagonist.
Its lyrics project a decadent atmosphere inspired by the game world depicted in the story, perfectly matching the song’s stylish tone.
By the way, the vocals are by the voicebank IA, and this is one of the demo tracks unveiled before her official release.
Imaginary Forestjin

Jin’s fifth work is “Imagination Forest.” It’s a song that portrays a girl who feels anxious about going out into the world and interacting with others.
In the song, the girl meets a boy and comes to discover the joy of connecting with people.
It features Hatsune Miku on vocals and has a refreshing pop sound.
Incidentally, this track has appeared on several albums under different titles, each with slight variations in arrangement.
Lost Time Memoryjin

Jin’s 15th work and the 10th Vocaloid number in the Kagerou Project.
This song plays a crucial role in the story and is also known for reaching a million views at the 8th fastest pace in history.
Its driving ensemble, featuring a hysteric guitar sound, seems to link with the impactful lyrics.
A rock tune where madness and pop sensibility coexist, it instantly pulls you in with its catchy chorus.

The World Affairs of Konohajin

A stylish rock tune with that distinctive Kagepro vibe, sung by Hatsune Miku and IA! Released in 2012, “Konoha no Sekai Jijō” is, as the title suggests, a song themed around Konoha.
If you’re familiar with the series, you may have noticed: it’s a counterpart to “Kagerou Daze.” Not only do the lyrics reflect that, but if you listen closely, the melody right before the chorus is quite similar.
In other words, it’s a must-listen for comparison! That fast-paced guitar phrase really gets you hyped, doesn’t it?
Mekakushi Codejin

The song “Mekakushi Code” features Kido, the leader of the Mekakushi-dan, as its protagonist.
It’s the second installment in the Kagerou Project series, released in 2011.
Its blend of band sound with futuristic synth phrases gives it a vibe of “new music.” As mentioned, in addition to the Hatsune Miku version, a version sung by Yasagure Koneko has also been released.
It has a distinctly different atmosphere from the original, and it’s incredibly cool.
Outer Sciencejin

The noisy soundscape is sharp and cool! Outer Science is a work released in 2013, with the character known as Kuro Konoha as the protagonist.
Its aggressive sound arrangement perfectly matches the highly combative lyrics, making you want to crank the volume way up.
Kuro Konoha’s thought process is depicted as-is, so if it’s your first time, be sure to compare it with other songs in the series and try speculating about who he is.
Otsukimi Recitaljin

The Kagerou Project series has many cool songs, but this one is catchy, dazzling, and cute! Otukimi Recital, themed around Momo and Hibiya’s relationship, was released in 2013.
The energetic sound of the brass parts alone brightens your mood! And the lyrics, which convey Momo’s feelings as she tries to cheer up Hibiya, end up encouraging us, too.
When an unpleasant haze is swirling in your chest, this song might just blow it all away!
