The classic song “unravel” by TK, the vocalist of Ling Tosite Sigure.

It’s a piece marked by deeply sentimental vocals.

Thanks to Ado’s recent cover, the song has surged in popularity again.

Whether it’s the original or Ado’s version, the difficulty is astounding: extremely high falsetto, shouts, and other challenging techniques appear throughout the intensely sung passages.

It also demands substantial expressive ability, so it’s difficult to master unless you have considerable vocal skill.

TK, the frontman of Ling tosite sigure.

Lately he’s been very active with his solo work, churning out hit songs.

Among them, the one I especially recommend as a particularly difficult piece to sing is Dare Ga Tame.

Crafted almost entirely in the higher register, this song features high-vocal techniques like mixed voice and falsetto.

Since most of it sits in the high range, some people might even get a headache.

If you’re confident in your vocal stamina, definitely give it a try.

Right now, the VTuber shining brightest in the music scene is Suisei Hoshimachi.

She’s a VTuber from hololive who’s not only active in streaming but also making a big impact in the music world.

Among her songs, the one I especially recommend is AWAKE.

This track has a stylish dance-music vibe, with the vocal lines featuring frequent light ad-libs and delicate falsetto runs.

The rhythm is also irregular, so it’s fair to say you need considerable musical sensibility to sing it well.

About meMrs. GREEN APPLE

This is the eighth single by the Japanese rock band Mrs.

GREEN APPLE, released in January 2019.

The vocalist, Omori, skillfully switches among a very colorful range of high tones, so it would be quite difficult for the average person to recreate this in karaoke.

The key point is whether you can correctly differentiate between techniques based on so-called “head voice,” such as middle voice, falsetto, and head voice itself.

If you strain to hit the high notes, you could damage your throat, so ideally you should take formal voice training before attempting it.

MY LIFELANA

LANA, the sister of popular rapper LEX, is an R&B singer who’s gained recognition for her exceptional vocal ability.

Her vocals, born from a husky tone, are highly acclaimed within the industry.

Among her tracks, the one I especially recommend is “MY LIFE.” As a full-fledged R&B song, it features numerous instances of advanced techniques like vocal runs and ad-libs.

It demands a challenging, foreign-style approach to singing, so definitely give it a try.

MYTH & ROID is a music unit led by producer Tom-H@ck.

It’s pronounced “Miss and Roid.” Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is NOX LUX.

It’s a piece defined by a driving, artcore-like momentum and is sung entirely in falsetto.

It’s not just high notes—low falsetto passages appear repeatedly, so you’ll need strong confidence in your head voice to pull it off.

Be sure to add it to your repertoire.

Kenshi Yonezu – Spinning Globe
Globe Kenshi Yonezu

It’s the 14th single by singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, released in July 2023.

It was reportedly written as the theme song for the film “The Boy and the Heron,” a feature-length work directed by Hayao Miyazaki.

The song is a beautifully crafted slow-to-mid-tempo piece, with an arrangement centered on acoustic piano that pairs exquisitely with Yonezu’s vocals.

The vocal melody spans a notably wide range, and Yonezu masterfully expresses this challenging line—shifting seamlessly from a deeply resonant low register to powerful high notes in chest voice, and gentle high tones in falsetto—tailoring his delivery to each scene and phrase of the song.

It’s a track that demands a fairly high level of skill to sing at karaoke, but if you’re confident in your singing, definitely give it a try!
