The debut single of Kinki Kids, the duo of Koichi Domoto and Tsuyoshi Domoto, is “Glass no Shonen.” The lyrics were written by Takashi Matsumoto and the music composed by Tatsuro Yamashita—an impressive lineup.
Despite being a debut song, its minor-key melody evokes kayōkyoku more than pop.
At the same time, the lyrics sing about the fragile, glass-like nature of boys and girls, which I think helped it gain popularity across generations.
It’s also a favorite at karaoke regardless of age, so definitely consider choosing it!
