Aya Ito

Born in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, a city of music. From a young age, enjoyed playing organ, Electone, and drums. While still in college, performed as the drummer of a rock band, including at YMF and numerous concerts and festivals. Later, at a long-established live house in Nagoya, heard performances by top drummer Takahiro Obata—who would later become a mentor—and renowned jazz vocalist Naho Yazu, and was deeply moved, awakening to the brilliance of jazz. Studied jazz vocals under Naho Yazu. Received intensive musical training from Takahiro Obata, including jazz drumming. Began performing as a jazz vocalist and jazz drummer, appearing at live houses and concerts in Nagoya, as well as dinner shows and parties at hotels and various other events and stages. In the hotel scene, performed at dinner shows and parties at venues such as The Westin Nagoya Castle, Tokyu Hotel, Mielparque, and the lounge of Lucent Tower. In concert halls, performed at the Nishi Bunka Small Theater, Nakagawa Bunka Small Theater, and Nakamura Bunka Small Theater in Nagoya as part of the “City Musicians Premium Concert” organized by the Nagoya City Cultural Promotion Organization. In Nagoya’s live house circuit, mainly appeared on stage at ONTEI (Ontei), including with Mr.

Appeared at venues such as Kenny’s, DOXY, Paradise Cafe, and Bottom Line. Drawing on the English major studied in college, they are known for a talk-like singing style, rhythmic sense honed through drumming, and skilled scat singing. With the motto “Make JAZZ a part of everyday life!”, they are active mainly in Nagoya. Hobbies include black sea bream fishing.
