Karaoke songs you can enjoy singing in your natural voice without changing the key

One of the best things about enjoying karaoke is being able to sing out loud in your natural voice, right? But there are plenty of songs with keys that are too high to sing, or that can hurt your throat if you force them.

To solve those problems, this article introduces a wide range of songs you can sing comfortably in your natural voice! Whether you’re male or female, these are songs you can enjoy singing in the original key and finish feeling great, so be sure to use this as a reference when choosing your next karaoke songs!

Male (71–80)

Witch of the RainWhale at Night in the City

Kujira Yoru no Machi “Rain Witch” Music Video [BOOM BOOM BOOM October CM Song]
Rain Witch Whale, Night City

A four-piece rock band, Kujira Yoru no Machi.

They’re gaining serious attention in the Japanese rock scene for their orthodox rock numbers that evoke the Heisei-era J-rock sound.

Among their songs, a particularly easy one to sing without changing the key is Ame no Majo.

It might initially feel a bit high, but because the chorus has a very narrow range, any male singer can handle it in chest voice.

The slightly fast phrasing is tricky, so just watch out for that part.

Caffeine Remix feat.DeuKiro Akiyama

Caffeine Remix feat. Deu Akiyama Kiro

Singer-songwriter Kiro Akiyama, known for his wide-ranging musicality.

There was a period when he stayed out of the spotlight due to his arrest, but since his comeback he has continued to release stylish, high-quality tracks.

Among his songs, one I especially recommend as easy to sing without changing the key is Caffeine Remix feat.

Deu.

While the vocal range is somewhat broad, there’s no falsetto, so it should be manageable for men with an average vocal range.

The melody has a slightly K-pop feel, making it a good pick for fans of boy groups as well.

Skeletonize!Straightener

Straightener is a band that continues to attract fans with its catchy musicality.

It’s rare to see a group maintain such broad, long-lasting appeal while staying firmly rooted in rock.

Among their songs, a particularly singable one—without needing to change the key—is Skeletonize! Only the very end of the chorus goes slightly high, but it’s still far from falsetto range, so most men should be able to sing it.

If you want it to sound even better, try adding as much shout as you can.

Male (81–90)

In the midst of the trivialGen Hoshino

Gen Hoshino – In the Useless (Live at Osaka-jō Hall 2016)
Gen Hoshino in the trivial

A classic song about the “love” that quietly exists in everyday life.

Released in 2011, it’s Gen Hoshino’s first single.

There’s a brief part that goes into a higher register, but otherwise it’s sung mostly in a natural chest voice, making it easy to perform.

The lyrics—one of Gen Hoshino’s hallmarks—brilliantly convey the happiness and love found in ordinary, casual conversations, so try to sing it in a way that preserves that worldview.

Even without trying to sing perfectly, it will likely touch the hearts of those who listen.

Ruby RingAkira Terao

This was Akira Terao’s sixth single overall, released in February 1981.

At the time of its release, it was used in a Yokohama Tire “ASPEC” commercial, and it was later chosen as the entrance march for the 54th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament held in the spring of 1982, becoming a massive hit that sold over 1.

6 million copies.

As you’d expect from Terao, whose appeal lies in his rich, low, and cool voice, the vocal melody doesn’t use particularly high notes throughout the song, and the tune itself is very familiar and easy to remember.

I think most men can sing it in the original key.

Be sure to resonate your voice solidly in your chest and take care not to let the low notes weaken as you sing.

pretty talk; platitudes; lip service (a colloquial/slangy form of きれいごと, meaning idealistic-sounding but empty words)TOOBOE

Vocaloid producer john, known for compositions with a rock flavor, is also active with his solo project TOOBOE.

Among TOOBOE’s tracks, a song I especially recommend is Kireegoto.

It features a slightly loud arrangement with solid intensity, paired with a vocal line focused in the low–mid range that leaves a strong impression.

It may be a bit low for women, but it’s a song that most men can sing without issue.

There’s no falsetto either, so consider adding it to your repertoire.

festivalFujii Kaze

Fujii Kaze – Matsuri(Official Video)
Matsuri Fujii Kaze

The vocal range is on the lower side, but the song is quite difficult, so I recommend practicing thoroughly before performing it.

This piece is by Kaze Fujii, a singer-songwriter from Okayama Prefecture, and it was released in 2022 as his 10th single.

With its mature R&B-style sound and unique lyrics that convey the happiness of living in the present, the contrast feels very characteristic of Fujii’s music.

It’ll make you naturally want to keep time with your hands or feet.

It might also be great for learning whispery vocals and a sultry singing style.
