Leon Russell was a multi-instrumentalist from the United States who was active as a songwriter, singer, and performer until his death in 2016.
A Song for You was included on his 1970 album Leon Russell.
The version covered by the Carpenters is also well known.
In Leon’s own version, his distinctive, slightly drawling vocal gives the song an even stronger nighttime feel.
A Nightingale Sang In Berkley SquareManhattan Transfer

The Manhattan Transfer’s “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” by the American vocal group, was released in 1990.
This work is a masterpiece of a cappella.
Although they produced many pop-leaning tracks in the ’80s, songs like this remind you that their true forte is making music with nothing but their voices.

The piece known in Japan as “Days of Wine and Roses” was recorded in 1964.
Although it is a short performance, you can hear both his polished playing and his high-speed improvisation in it.
