The laughter is yodeling, yo.Yuichiro Hanada, Atsuko Ono

“The laughter is like yodeling” — November Monthly Song from Okaasan to Issho. A YouTube-exclusive character appears!? / cover: Otousan mo Issho, Yoko Ueno
Laughter that yodels—Yuichiro Hanada, Atsuko Ono

“Warai-goe ga Yo-deru ne” was released as the Song of November 2021.

The lyrics and music were written by singer-songwriter Daisuke Mori.

Speaking of Daisuke Mori, he also wrote the lyrics and music for the October 2020 song “Pan wa Pan demo!?” This is a very cheerful song that lets you enjoy tickling games in time with the lyrics.

The title seems to be a play on words, combining the vocal technique yodel with the idea of laughter coming out.

Be sure to sing and have fun with toddlers who love tickling games!

Banana Parent and ChildTetsu Kashiwa, Akira Hayashi, Saeko Shuu

Once you hear it, you can’t get it out of your head—the song “Banana no Oyako” (“Banana Family”).

The tempo speeds up in the first and second verses, and keeping up with the tongue-twister chorus gets progressively harder.

That challenge is part of the fun, and you’ll find yourself humming along before you know it.

It’s a song that’s been performed on Okaasan to Issho since the 1980s, so I think people of many ages know it.

With its tropical vibe, it conjures images of blue skies and the sea.

It might be even better to belt it out freely outdoors on a sunny day than just listen to it indoors.

Earth boing-boingDaisuke Yokoyama / Takumi Mitani

Earth Pyon-Pyon by Daisuke Yokoyama / Takumi Mitani

We go for a walk, hopping and bouncing around the Earth.

It’s a bright, upbeat song that says by bouncing, you can even see everyone’s smiles and tomorrow itself.

At concerts and the like, it seems people add call-and-response lines such as “Up to here!” and “Come on over!”

Magic ShoesDaisuke Yokoyama / Atsuko Ono

Magic Shoes – A Song from “With Mother” (Okaasan to Issho), July 2016
Magic Shoes by Daisuke Yokoyama / Atsuko Ono

When you want to play with everyone but can’t bring yourself to speak up, or when you want to talk to a child who’s crying but feel unsure, the magic shoes give you courage.

Even adults can feel hesitant about approaching unfamiliar children or those who are crying, right? If your child is having a hard time, it might help to cast a little magic on the shoes they’re wearing—just like in this song!

Secret ParadeDaisuke Yokoyama / Takumi Mitani

It was released in 2010.

With lyrics by Junko Kudo and music by Ryo Kamomiya, it’s included as one of the tracks on “NHK Okaasan to Issho: Saishin Best Koronpa.” The lyrics have a subtle air of mystery, and their sense of style really shines!

If we make it togetherYuzo Imai, Shoko Haida

Known as a popular song from NHK’s “Okaasan to Issho,” this piece features warm lyrics that convey the importance of cooperation through the meeting of shapes and colors.

The bright, fun melody sung as a duet by Yuzo Imai and Shoko Haida captivates children and won’t let go.

Since its first appearance on the program in April 2005, it has been loved for many years as a song that parents and children can enjoy together.

With imagination-nurturing lyrics and a catchy rhythm, singing and dancing to it with your child is sure to create wonderful memories.

It’s also perfect for activities at nursery schools and kindergartens, so be sure to give it a try!

Everyone falls in love with someone.Daisuke Yokoyama / Takumi Mitani

The lyrics are really wonderful! It’s a song about beautiful scenes that don’t feel like a typical children’s song.

The line “Everyone falls in love with someone” could even be taken as a love song, don’t you think? The lyrics were written by Osamu Sakata, the music was composed by Akira Hayashi, and it was released in 2012.
