Oita City SongOita Citizens’ Association for the Love of Music

This is a song about Oita City, the capital of Oita Prefecture.
Oita City merged with surrounding municipalities, including Tsurusaki City, in 1963, and this song was composed in 1983 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of that merger.
This video is from the celebratory concert held for the 100th anniversary of Oita City’s founding.

In Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, there is the Beppu Onsen hot spring area, which features various ‘hells’ (geothermal hot spring sites), including Umi Jigoku, designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty by the national government.
This song is themed around touring these hells, and is notable for being sung by a bus guide.

In 2009, it was presented to the city by an executive committee composed of four chorus groups active within the city.

This is an enka song by Ayako Natsuki, released in 2016, that sings about traveling to Yufuin Hot Springs to forget a tragic love.

Gomadashi is a seasoning used in Saiki City, made from ingredients such as fish meat, soy sauce, and sesame.
Udon topped with gomadashi is called “gomadashi udon,” and it has been selected as one of the Top 100 Rural Local Dishes.
