Ano-chan, a talent who’s in constant demand on TV.

She also works as an artist under the name “ano” and has produced several big hits, such as “Chu, Tayousei.” Because her voice is very high-pitched, women with lower voices might think her songs are hard to sing—but “Kono Sekai ni Futari Dake” is different.

While it has a bright vibe, the song is written within a narrow range.

If you set the key properly, even women with lower voices should be able to sing it without any problem.

In fact, precisely because the range is narrow, it might be easier to sing in the right key.

Never Grow UpNEW!CHANMINA

Chanmina – Never Grow Up (Official Music Video)
Never Grow Up NEW! Chanmina

Female rapper Chanmina, who enjoys overwhelming support from women in their teens and twenties.

Released in 2019, this track gained popularity with its tropical house-inspired sound and downbeat, whisper-like vocals.

The song’s range is mid2A to hiD#, which is high but relatively narrow overall.

Since the key can be lowered sufficiently, it’s one of the more singable songs among Chanmina’s works.

Because of the nature of rap, there tend to be fewer breakpoints, so it’s recommended to adjust your vocal output to align with the sections where you can take proper breaths.

In the contemporary Japanese music scene, most popular artists have high-pitched voices.

However, Yorushika is different.

Suis, the vocalist of Yorushika, has a comparatively low voice for a popular artist, and many of their songs are easy to sing for women with lower vocal ranges.

Among them, “Taiyō” (The Sun) particularly emphasizes the lower register, and because the vocal lines are kept simple, the song is structured to be very easy to sing from start to finish.

Adult Chick ChildrenNEW!yama

Adult-chic children NEW! yama

Yama is a female singer-songwriter known for her stylish vocal delivery.

While she sometimes sings R&B and clearly has strong vocal ability, Adult Chick Children showcases a vocal line that stays easy to sing throughout, while still making full use of her signature style.

The song has a narrow range, and even with the key change in the latter half, there are no truly high phrases.

However, because the vocals are sung with a relatively thick whisper tone from start to finish, trying to replicate this too precisely can make diaphragmatic control difficult and cause you to run out of breath.

If you’re not used to diaphragmatic (abdominal) breathing, start by singing without adding breathiness to your voice.

ElfAdo

Ado’s new song “Elf.” When it comes to Ado, her wide vocal range and strikingly dramatic pitch shifts are memorable.

In contrast, this piece features a more relaxed vocal line with a modest range for an Ado track.

There are a few falsetto passages starting from the first verse, but they’re sung in falsetto by choice; the pitches are still comfortably reachable in chest voice.

As a result, even women with lower voices can sing it without strain.

There’s a key change in the chorus, but it modulates downward, which is another welcome aspect for singers with lower voices.

Brandy Senki is a girls’ band that has earned high praise for their sophisticated musicality.

While their signature sound blends various genres—rock, Black music, techno, and more—this track, “Last Live,” is crafted as a more orthodox rock piece.

The vocal line, with its delicate glow, has a narrow range and lacks complex pitch shifts, making it a very singable song for women with lower voices.

Consider adding it to your repertoire.

Boo…Praise

Reisan is a band formed primarily by Saaya from the comedy duo Laland and Enon Kawatani from Gesu no Kiwami Otome.

They’re known for their refined musicality and downer-tinged melodies that tastefully incorporate elements of Black music.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is Uramesshiya.

It maintains a very calm mood throughout with no high parts.

Because of its downbeat character, breath control is key; if you focus on vocal thickness and audible breathing as you sing, it really brings out the appeal of women with lower voices.
