A collection of Western songs with titles that start with numbers

In this article, I’ll be introducing classic Western songs whose titles begin with numbers.

When it comes to number-starting titles, some consist of numbers only, while others have words following the numbers.

If you’re knowledgeable about Western music, you might already have a few songs in mind.

That said, we don’t often search for songs by categories like “titles that start with XX,” so this could be a great chance to discover wonderful tracks you didn’t know before.

Take this opportunity to listen to a variety of songs!

Sonic Youth – 100% (Official Music Video)

Sonic Youth is a great band respected by their peers as the behind-the-scenes leaders of alternative rock, and they made enormous contributions to New York’s music scene from the 1980s onward.

Sadly, they ended their three-decade career in 2011, but their activities—rooted in a DIY ethos—and their noise, experimental, and free-form musicality built on alternate tunings continue to show younger bands what indie is all about.

Against expectations, Sonic Youth made the leap to a major label, and the opening track of their classic second major-label release, Dirty, is this song: “100%.” Its unconventional, noisy riffs have a strangely poppy ring to them, and it’s insanely cool.

It’s also a relatively accessible song for them, so why not start here?

Souls of Mischief are a four-member hip-hop group formed in 1991 in Oakland, California.

They released four albums by 2000, then went quiet for a while; when they finally returned in 2009 with the long-awaited Montezuma’s Revenge, it became a major talking point among hip-hop fans.

Speaking of their signature work, it has to be their major-label debut album, ’93 ’til Infinity, astonishingly released when they were still in high school.

The title track, famous for its innovative method of sampling Billy Cobham’s fusion-jazz piece Heather at 45 RPM, is a bona fide hip-hop classic that continues to be cherished.

Naturally, the youthful raps of teenage MCs, with a hint of innocence, offer a fresh appeal distinct from the hard-edged, orthodox Black hip-hop.

In the early ’90s, West Coast hip-hop was dominated by G-funk and gangsta rap; amid that, this album—packed with the “spirit of the times,” jazzy, groovy, polished yet tinged with an underground feel—wasn’t exactly a massive hit.

But precisely because of that, it has continued to shine without being swayed by trends, leaving a profound influence on the scene that followed.

2000 O.D.Space Tribe

From the opening, you might think it’s guitar-psychedelia with a snarling electric guitar front and center, but without ever letting up, it keeps dragging you toward an endlessly writhing acid line—a killer track that could only come from Australia’s psychedelic craftsman, Olli Wisdom.

2 Become 1Spice Girls

Released in 1996, it became popular as the Spice Girls’ first ballad.

The world was captivated by the five beautiful and stylish women at the time of their debut.

With the release of this ballad as the third single from their debut album, many fans were enchanted by their beautiful harmonies, and it debuted at No.

1 in the UK.

It’s a profound love ballad that sings about the powerful force created when a man and a woman become one.

100 BagsStormzy

“100 Bags,” a track from British grime scene stalwart Stormzy’s 2017 album Gang Signs & Prayer.

Renowned for his lyrical talent and distinctive musical style, Stormzy lays bare his past and feelings for his family on this song as well.

In particular, his gratitude toward the mother who raised him as a single parent and his strong resolve to succeed in music to make her life easier leave a lasting impression.

Set to a sound that fuses grime and hip-hop, Stormzy’s emotions come through directly.

It’s a standout song that makes a great Mother’s Day gift and is recommended for anyone who values the bond between parent and child.

It’s a melancholic, wistful song included on an album released by the Finnish metal band Stratovarius.

Timo Tolkki’s soaring high-tone vocals and consistently melodic guitar work are wonderfully pleasing.
