It’s YouE.S.P.

A house classic released in 1986.
A masterpiece by E.
S.
P.
, the production unit consisting of Daniel Ellington and Tom Adams.
Even today, single phrases from this track are sampled and used in other songs, and its chords are often used for leads.
There probably wasn’t a definition of “deep house” at the time, so this must have been a fresh, innovative approach back then.
Brighter DaysCajmere

A vocal deep house classic.
This is by Kashmere, an alias of Green Velvet, a legend of the Chicago house scene.
Among the biggest hits of his career, it’s a track that faithfully follows the rules of early house.
It went on to be highly acclaimed, spawning numerous reissues and remixes.
A deep track whose organ chords evoke classical, standard house music.
White TuskMark Alow

A best hit from 2018.
The percussive beat loop feels great.
On top of the endlessly repeating short organ loop in a major key, it blends highly ethnic vocal samples and shakuhachi tones with an Afro-inspired sensibility.
A spiritual track that conveys a mixed sensibility of deep house and minimal house.
Psychotic PhotosynthesisOmar-S

Omar-S, aka Alex Omar S.
Smith, is a Detroit-born house producer highly regarded in the underground.
While running his renowned label FXHE, he has also worked as an engineer, breathing life into tracks by producers including Theo Parrish.
His DJ sets, which blend deep techno, disco, and house, have earned widespread acclaim, and he performs around the world.
His background was shaped by his brother—who was friends with Derrick May—and he grew up immersed in Detroit and Chicago dance music from an early stage as the scene matured.
This track is a deep cut released on his own label in 2007.
I Need YaSaison

With murky piano chords and sax layers, a rounded synth lead that weaves in and out, and a parallel-shifting bassline that faithfully adheres to the rules and manners of Chicago house, this track is a textbook example of house music updated for a modern mood.
The melody is restrained, with no unnecessary flash—smart, sophisticated deep house.
In The End (I Want You to Cry) (Original Mix)Tensnake

A deep house track that shines with its organ refrain and simple structure.
What truly put his name on the map was “Coma Cat,” released the following year, which received rave reviews from DJs and producers and was featured on numerous compilations.
Although this 2009 release leans especially toward deep house and tends to be overshadowed by his bigger hits, it’s a fantastic piece of music.

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE (OBSKÜR REMIX)Barbara Tucker

Barbara Tucker, a New York–born singer known as the “Queen of House.” This piece is a reconstruction of her signature 1994 track by the Irish duo Obskür, set to a UK garage groove.
Brimming with positive energy, it showcases her powerful, gospel-rooted vocals and celebrates the joy of people coming together.
The original song is such a classic that Pitchfork named it one of the best house tracks of the ’90s.
Released in June 2022, the remix blends the original’s euphoria with a modern beat to stunning effect—you’ll find your body moving before you know it.
