unravel NEW! TK from Ling tosite sigure

Among TK from Ling tosite sigure’s songs, the masterpiece “unravel” is renowned for its exceptional difficulty.

Known as the theme song for the popular anime Tokyo Ghoul, many people may have discovered it through Ado’s cover as well.

The most challenging aspects of this song are, above all, its vocal range and expressive breadth.

The range spans an extraordinarily wide mid2 A# to hihi A#, with repeated hi G notes in the chorus.

On top of that, it demands a wide variety of vocal techniques, including scream-like phrases and trembling lines that make use of whisper voice.

Its level of difficulty is among the highest even within Japanese rock.

AWAKE Hoshimachi Suisei

Suisei Hoshimachi is one of the most active VTubers in Japan right now.

Her nationwide hit “Bibideba” is probably still fresh in your memory.

She continues to release hit numbers, but the one I especially want to recommend is “AWAKE.” This track leans more toward dance music, featuring vocals that demand smoothness within their power.

There’s a fair amount of falsetto and a wide vocal range, so it’s a song that calls for solid overall singing ability and a strong sense of rhythm.

Satsuki, a Vocaloid producer who commands overwhelming authority in the high-register realm.

Active since 2019, Satsuki is especially well known for Mezmerizer, which is still fresh in many people’s minds.

I bet plenty of you have tried tackling it at karaoke, right? Their new track is Obsolmeat.

As with their previous works, this piece is arranged to spotlight the high range.

Beyond the extreme pitch, it’s a tough song that demands stamina, since the high parts run from start to finish.

YOASOBI’s masterpiece “Monotone.” When it comes to YOASOBI, they’re known for lots of high-range parts, with vocal lines that repeatedly switch between chest voice and falsetto—very distinctive, right? This piece, however, differs from that impression; in a word, it feels like a song with an extremely wide vocal range.

The low notes in particular are astonishingly low—most women with an average voice type simply can’t produce them.

The chorus does bring in solid high parts as well, making it a high-difficulty song that really depends on the singer’s vocal quality.

, who is especially popular among teens and people in their twenties.

Many women have likely fallen for tuki.

’s charm, with her catchy lyrics and the way she effortlessly sings highly challenging vocal lines.

Among her songs, the one I particularly recommend is her new track, “Aimo Raimo.” It’s arranged as a ballad, and it’s a demanding piece—especially the falsetto at the start of the chorus and the short, standalone ad-libs that appear throughout every section.

My sincerity, AiNA THE END

After making her mark as a member of BiSH, Aina The End has been thriving as a solo artist as well.

Many people admire her unique vocal technique that makes full use of her husky voice.

Among her works, the one I particularly recommend is “Watashi no Magokoro” (“My Sincere Heart”).

This piece features a triplet feel reminiscent of soul music, a rhythm said to be quite difficult for many Japanese singers.

On top of that, it includes shouts and ad-libs, making it quite challenging for those who mainly sing Japanese pop.

XG, rumored to be the most skilled Japanese girl group right now.

If you’re a woman who likes K-pop, you’ve probably heard of them.

Their hit track “IYKYK” features exceptionally demanding vocal lines and rap parts that are rare in Japan’s girl-group scene.

The difficulty is on par with K-pop, with every section incorporating Black music-style expressions such as ad-libs, falls, and other embellishments.
