Hidden Gems of Foreign Music for Study and BGM (11–20)
The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)Jason Mraz

I got hooked and listened to it over and over, and I watched Jason Mraz’s live performances where he arranged and sang it on YouTube many times.
Whether it’s sung slowly or performed in a big venue, every version is great.
I recently learned the Japanese translation of the lyrics, and the story behind how it was made surprised me as well.
Bang BangJessie J ft. Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj

Listening to this song really gets me hyped and my excitement keeps building.
It’s up-tempo, so my body naturally starts moving and I feel energized.
All three of them have incredible vocals.
They’re beautiful too, so I never get bored watching the music video.
SorryJustin Bieber

I really like this song and used to listen to it a lot while walking.
It has a light feel that makes both my body and mind feel lighter.
It’s bright and upbeat, and it seems like I could even study to it.
The vibe of everyone dancing in the music video is cool, too.
I like the primary-color look of the MV.
Telephone ft. BeyoncéLady Gaga

This is a song that was recommended to me by a dear friend.
I remember instantly liking it when I heard it as their ringtone.
That friend seems to love Lady Gaga’s style and said they often watch her music videos.
Since it’s a fast-paced song, it really gets me in the mood.
CAN’T HOLD US FEAT. RAY DALTONMacklemore & Ryan Lewis

I discovered this song through a cover.
It was an a cappella cover, and it was so cool that I fell in love with it, and then I found the original.
It’s an uptempo, energizing song that lifts my mood, so I think it might be good to listen to while studying.
RudeMAGIC

The Canadian reggae-fusion band Magic! delivers a track that’s perfect for studying.
Its laid-back vibe and bright melody set the tone for a comfortable self-study session on a day off.
Taken from their debut album, “Don’t Kill the Magic,” the song became a worldwide hit in 2014.
The lyrics—about a young man who refuses to give up even after his girlfriend’s father forbids their marriage—leave a strong impression.
The upbeat feel is boosted by a 144 BPM tempo and a key of C-sharp major, sure to lift your spirits.
Listening in a warm room while you study can help you stay relaxed yet motivated.

SugarMaroon 5

I love the MV too.
It shows lots of happy moments, and watching people genuinely surprised and delighted by the surprise makes me feel warm inside.
If MAROON 5 showed up at a wedding, of course everyone would be shocked.
I dream about how amazing it would be to invite someone’s favorite singer to the wedding of someone important to me—how happy that would make them.
