Chikusei KoutaAkira Otani, Haruko Nomura

This is a local song from Chikusei City, located in western Ibaraki Prefecture, released in 2013.
The lyrics are by Katsutoshi Namiki and the music is by Muneo Ebisawa.
The song features Chikusei’s famous sights, festivals, and specialties.
A dance has also been created, and you can learn the choreography by watching this video.
Koise RiverMitsuko Nakamura

This one is also themed around the Koise River and has the same title, but it’s a different song from Aki Yashiro’s; it’s sung by Mitsuko Nakamura.
It was released in 2008.
The composer is Gendai Kano, known for songs like “Automobile Show Song,” and the lyricist is Yurio Matsui.

Hometown TSUKUBAKaho Shimada

This is the city song of Tsukuba, a core city for administrative functions located in southern Ibaraki Prefecture, established in 1990.
The lyrics were written by Keisuke Yamakawa, who has provided words for many musicians, and the music was composed by Taimei Ishikawa.
Sung by Kaho Shimada, who is also active as an actress, it’s a refreshing song.
Song of the Young EaglesTeruhiko Saigō

This is the theme song of the 1943 film “Into the Skies for the Decisive Battle.” Lyricist Yaso Saijo and composer Yuji Koseki are said to have enlisted for a day in the Tsuchiura Naval Air Corps to create this song.
This video is a cover version by Teruhiko Saigo, which was used as the theme song for “Ah, Yokaren.”
Tsukuba Foothills ChoirDuke Aces

This is a song themed on Mount Tsukuba, the symbol of Ibaraki Prefecture rising over Tsukuba City.
It is one of the Duke Aces’ “Songs of Japan” series and was released in 1970.
The lyrics are by Rokusu kei Ei and the music by Taku Izumi.
It’s a unique song in which frogs are the ones singing.

It’s the image song for Kasama City, located in central Ibaraki Prefecture, released in 2014.
The dance-vocal unit NEVA GIVE UP performs it.
This video shows the first time the song was unveiled, at the Local Gourmet Summit in Kasama.
A new townEiko Matsui

Shirosato Town, located in the northwestern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, was established in 2005 through the merger of Joboji Town, Nakae Village, and Katsura Village.
“The New Town” was created to commemorate this.
This video shows a live performance held during an event called “Holoru no Tamago.”
