Sora-buneTOKIO

The theme song “Sora Fune” (Ship in the Sky) for the drama My Boss My Hero, which starred TOKIO’s vocalist Tomoya Nagase and also featured Yui Aragaki! The drama is a comedy about Maki-o Sakaki, the underboss of a yakuza group played by Nagase, who lies about his age to attend high school.
The song was written and composed by Miyuki Nakajima, who later released her own self-cover.
It’s a bold, cool track that was also selected as the entrance march for the opening ceremony of the 79th National High School Baseball Championship.
One Lovestorm

Arashi’s 22nd hit single.
The Latin rhythm in the backing track, which supports the bittersweet lyrics, feels comfortable and refreshing.
With its sense of tempo, “One Love” draws you in as you find yourself grooving along.
The group’s steady vocals and rhythm gently resonate with the heart.
A popular karaoke song, its lyrics and melody slip smoothly into your heart and will continue to be sung for years to come.
Glass BoyKinKi Kids

Kinki Kids, a duo of two people from the Kansai region who even share the exact same surname, debuted with the song “Glass Boy.” With lyrics by Takashi Matsumoto and music by Tatsuro Yamashita, it was created by an exceptionally star-studded team.
Although the two were still teenagers at the time of their debut, their vocal ability and expressive power allowed them to brilliantly convey the mature melody and lyrics.
Now that they’re adults, they can bring out the song’s atmosphere even more and continue to perform it.
They performed this song at the 67th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen—the first time they appeared on the program, 19 years after their debut.
Shout out lovestorm

Arashi’s song “Ai o Sakebe,” which also became a hot topic as the CM song for Recruit’s “Zexy,” is a wedding tune that makes you want to dance with its bright, upbeat feel—unlike many wedding songs that are more mellow.
It’s a wonderful track you’ll want to dedicate when someone special is getting married.
The tempo is a bit fast, but the melody doesn’t have big pitch jumps, so it should be easy to sing at karaoke.
The lyrics feel like a man speaking directly to the bride, so it’s a song we definitely recommend men try singing.
AlphaNaniwa Danshi

“Alpha” features many bright yet somewhat ballad-like, mellow phrases.
It’s a song that evokes the feel of the Heisei-era idol style, and overall it’s tied together by catchy vocals.
The vocal range for this track is mid1E to hiC.
Since it sits within a typical range and the melodic movement is similar to that of standard J-pop, it can be considered quite easy to sing.
However, because the core of the song generally centers on mid-to-high notes, if you find it a bit high, it’s better to adjust the key based on the frequently occurring mid2C rather than the highest note.
100% CourageNYC

Showa-era idol group Hikaru GENJI’s number “Yuuki 100%.” The Heisei version is a cover by NYC, used as the theme song for the film Nintama Rantaro.
Hikaru GENJI’s roller-skate dancing—their elegant skating—was innovative at the time and captivated young people.
NYC’s choreography is cute and looks easy enough for little kids to dance along to.
It’s very friendly and puts a smile on your face! This is exactly what a Heisei version should be—NYC’s very own “Yuuki 100%.”
Youthful AmigoShuji and Akira

Seishun Amigo is a song by the duo Shuji and Akira, formed by Kazuya Kamenashi of KAT-TUN and Tomohisa Yamashita.
It was used as the theme song for the drama Nobuta wo Produce, in which the two appeared playing the characters Shuji and Akira—the names that became their unit’s moniker.
Its melody, reminiscent of 1980s idol kayōkyoku, felt refreshingly new at the time.
Many people also imitated the chorus dance as a pair.
The two later changed their unit name to Kame to Yamapi and, after co-starring in another drama, released Senakagoshi no Chance.
