Over a calm and steady sound, MISIA’s gentle yet powerful voice resonates.
The lyrics express the idea of cherishing even the smallest hopes, conveying a warmth that reaches listeners’ hearts.
It’s a recommended track for those seeking the courage to embrace new beginnings or to keep looking ahead and moving forward.

If you like songs that are both mellow and grand in scope, we recommend “Sayonara mo Iwanai Mama de.” This piece opens with a strikingly jazzy flair, and while traces of a jazzy atmosphere appear throughout the performance, it’s essentially arranged as orthodox pop.
It’s a mature track with dramatic dynamics, so be mindful of expressiveness when you sing.
Because there are quite a few long tones, if it feels taxing, we also recommend lowering the key by one or two steps.
BELIEVENEW!MISIA
For more recent listeners, MISIA is probably strongly associated with being a classic, orthodox diva, but for women in their 40s, doesn’t she evoke more of an R&B singer image? Among her songs from that era, the one I especially recommend is BELIEVE.
Although the chorus features a high-pitched phrase with quite dramatic pitch jumps, most of the rest sits in the low-to-mid range.
Since there are repeated falsetto passages, if you’re not comfortable with head voice, try lowering the key before you tackle it.
galaxyMISIA
If you’re interested in grand, fantastical pieces, we recommend “Galaxy.” As the title suggests, it’s a space-themed track, and both the melody and vocal lines are crafted to feel truly majestic.
Because of that, a certain level of vocal ability is required; however, compared to full-fledged R&B or soul, there’s less ad-libbing and no highly advanced vocal techniques, so it should be relatively easy to sing for those with solid basic vocal skills.
EDGE OF THIS WORLDMISIA
When it comes to MISIA, her serene yet grand ballads are especially memorable.
However, she has also released some electronic dance numbers.
Among them, the one I particularly recommend is “EDGE OF THIS WORLD.” It begins as a conventional ballad, but once the chorus hits, electronic sounds come in and the mood shifts to a cybernetic feel.
With fewer long sustained notes and an easy-to-follow rhythm, it’s one of the most singable tracks in MISIA’s catalog.

MemoryMISIA
When people think of MISIA, many probably imagine emotional, grand songs.
However, those kinds of tracks often have vocal lines that are hard to sing, making them not exactly beginner-friendly.
For those people, I recommend “Kioku” (“Memory”).
It’s a gently grand piece, but the chorus’s long notes and the overall range are kept moderate, so among MISIA’s songs, it’s relatively easier to sing.
