[Karaoke] A Collection of Songs Whose Titles Start with 'Mo'

At karaoke, people sometimes set various rules, like singing songs by the same artist or choosing based on song titles.

One fun idea is to pick a letter from the Japanese syllabary and sing “songs that start with ___.”

In this article, we’ll introduce a selection of songs that start with “mo,” so feel free to use this as a reference for your next karaoke session.

Many of these tracks feature sentimental words like “moshi” (if) and “mou” (already/no longer), so it can be nice to think about the lyrics’ meaning or imagine the story as you sing.

Be sure to check out these “mo”-starting songs by artists who’ve been active from the Showa era through Heisei and into Reiwa.

The Magic Train and Kirai-chanstone bath

Stone Bath / The Magic Train and Kirai-chan [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
Magic Train and Kirai-chan’s Stone Bath

This is Ishiburo’s “Mahō Densha to Kirai-chan,” which captures the languid emotions of adolescence through light, buoyant rock.

The lyrics observe the steady, everyday lives of people through strange, whimsical characters.

There are moments that make you anxious, as if they’re plotting something scary, but it all ends peacefully.

The remarkable thing about Ishiburo—as a bandman and guitarist—is how he delivers this content brightly in a rock style.

Using miki, with her airy, free-spirited character, and IA, with her natural, innocent persona, he skillfully creates a mysterious world.

It sounds like a song that would really shine as a duet!

One More Time… feat. BENI Dōji -T

The final song in a trilogy by Dōji-T feat.

YU-A, released in 2011.

Over a piano-driven track, Dōji-T’s slightly idiosyncratic rap delivers dramatic lyrics about the future and the past.

Layered with YU-A’s vocals, the world of the song gains momentum—an inspiring duet number you won’t want to miss.

Once Again... feat. BENIDOZ-T

A track by Dōji-T featuring BENI.

The lyrics portray two people who somehow drifted apart, and it really squeezes your heart.

Heartbreak always comes with that lingering regret of “How did it end up like this?” It’s a gentle ballad that stays by your side when you can’t move on from a past love.

Do Not Mix: Kinniku Shōjo Tai

Known by the abbreviation “Kinsho,” this four-piece rock band has continued to captivate fans with its unique presence despite a whirlwind of lineup changes since its formation.

The seemingly contrasting elements—the eccentric lyrics and unpredictable melodies by vocalist Kenji Ohtsuki, and the classical yet lyrical guitar work of Fumihiko Kitsutaka—combine to create an addictive appeal.

Although Ohtsuki has said, “If I were an extremely good singer and Kitsutaka were the leader, Kinsho would have become a metal band,” suggesting they don’t consider themselves a metal band, their sound has undoubtedly continued to influence many younger metal bands.
