Sorry, green pepper.Ayumi Shigemori

I tried singing 'Gomen ne, Piiman' (Sorry, Bell Pepper)
Sorry, Bell Pepper Shigemori Ayumi.

This is a song sung by Porori, the character played by Takashi Nakao, in the puppet show “Niko Niko Pun” from Okaasan to Issho.

The song has continued to be performed on the program even after “Niko Niko Pun” ended.

Porori dislikes green peppers so much that he faints just from hearing the name.

In the song, he nearly collapses, but he’s trying his best to make friends with green peppers.

[Okaasan to Issho June New Song] Sora Sora Somen (NHK E-TV)
Sora Sora Sōmen Hanada Yūichirō, Ono Atsuko

Released in June 2021, “Sora Sora Somen” is a fun, striking song with a real impact—especially with the somen noodles dancing around! Sung from the perspective of flowing somen, the lyrics freshly and adorably depict the noodle’s feelings as it’s boiled and eaten cold.

It’s great for dancing with kids, and it sounds fun to sing while cooking somen together.

Plus, since it has a Soran-bushi-style rhythm, dancing to it like Soran-bushi would be super fun too.

Definitely give it a try!

Sniff-sniff walkDaisuke Yokoyama / Takumi Mitani

The Song of the Month for June 2013, with lyrics by Junko Kudo and music by Rei Shibakusa.

It’s a gentle piece featuring simple, catchy lyrics and a pleasant piano tone.

Combined with Takuya Inaba’s animation, it creates a warm and tender world.

I tried adding CG animation to “Bird” from Okaasan to Issho

It’s a song about birds that can’t fly.

Ostriches, penguins, and chickens have wings, but they can’t soar through the sky.

Still, this song isn’t a lament about being unable to fly; it teaches us that even though we’re not all the same, each of us can live happily just as we are.

People, too, each have different appearances and personalities, but that’s not something strange or wrong—and that’s the message I want to share through this song.

Electric Kid Billy - Singing Man and Woman (from “Okaasan to Issho”/“With Mother”)
Billy the Electric Kid Daisuke Yokoyama / Takumi Mitani

In winter, when you take off a knit sweater or touch people or objects, you get that sharp little zap of static electricity.

It’s kind of scary—or at least startling, right? “Billy, the Child of Electricity” is a cute song about that very static.

Not many people actually like static electricity, but when you hear this song and think, “Oh, it’s a mischievous little child of electricity,” it somehow starts to feel a bit endearing, doesn’t it?

Tattered RocketDaisuke Yokoyama / Takumi Mitani

This is a song about the mysterious universe that fascinates everyone! The lyrics are so cute.

Both the lyrics and the music were created by CHI-MEY.

The idea behind the phrase “boroboro” is intriguing in itself, and I think both children and adults can enjoy it.

Teto-teto, patan.Yuichiro Hanada, Atsuko Ono

Tetoteto Patan - With Mother (Okaasan to Issho) - October 2019 Song
Tetoteto Pattan Yuichiro Hanada, Atsuko Ono

This is the October 2019 song “Tetote to Patan.” It’s a children’s song, but it has a folk music feel and a tempo that’s surprisingly tricky to sing.

When I found out the lyrics were by Seiko Ito and the music was by U-zhaan, it somehow all made sense.

It’s challenging, but incredibly catchy—a cute little tune that makes even adults want to move along with it.
