Karaoke songs that are easy to sing, even for those who aren’t confident at singing, recommended for teenage girls

Recently, with the rise of high-voiced male vocalists, it’s become an even tougher world for tone-deaf women when it comes to singing.

In particular, women who can’t hit high notes are probably having quite a hard time.

Of course, vocal range matters, but even more important is whether you’re choosing the right key for yourself.

With that technical point in mind, this time I’ve selected easy-to-sing songs I’d recommend for teenage girls.

Going to Hamai to escape with the beat

Hamaiku is a musical duo consisting of comedian Ryuichi Hamaie and former Nogizaka46 member Erika Ikuta.

The unit was formed on NHK’s music program Venue101.

Speaking of their signature song, it would be “Beat de Touhi.” Since neither of the two is primarily a singer, the vocal line of this track is very simple.

There are no harmonies; they just sing the same line as male and female, so it can be considered an easy duet as well.

The group’s 19th single, “Itsuka Dekiru Kara Kyou Dekiru,” was selected as the theme song for the film Asahinagu, in which members appeared.

It was also used as the CM song for Haruyama Shoji’s “Regional Support Festival.” As the title suggests, its message—act on your ideas right away—really hits home.

With a narrow vocal range and no large melodic leaps, it’s approachable even for those who aren’t confident singers.

It’s a refreshing pop tune that feels great to sing over a clear, transparent ensemble.

This song has a title that makes you go “Huh?” at first glance.

It’s included on Type-C of Nogizaka46’s second album, Sorezore no Isu, released in 2016.

The lyrics compare the fragility of unrequited love to things like shaved ice melting, portraying the aching heart of a love that likely won’t come true, a love that isn’t simple.

The vocal range is very narrow, so as long as you choose the right key, people with any voice type can sing it comfortably.

The lyrics can also be sung at a relaxed pace, so among Nogizaka’s songs, it’s on the easier side for karaoke.

Shiawase no Hogoshoku, released in 2020 as Nogizaka46’s 25th single and known among fans as Mai Shiraishi’s graduation song.

True to a graduation theme, the lyrics hint at goodbye, yet it’s more of a positive, clean-cut farewell song with a refreshing aftertaste.

With relatively little pitch movement and a narrow vocal range, it’s an easy track for many people to sing.

Try performing it with a steady, upbeat feel, riding along with the calmly ticking melody.

People dream twice.Nogizaka46

Nogizaka46 is one of the most popular idol groups right now.

They’re popular not only among men but also among teenage girls.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend as being easy to sing is “Hito wa Yume wo Nido Miru” (“People Dream Twice”).

The track has that quintessential Sakamichi sound—soft and radiant—crafted into a polished idol song.

There aren’t many high notes, so it should be very easy for teenage girls to sing.

The melody in the chorus is a little bit tricky, but since it’s built around scales familiar to Japanese listeners, you’ll be able to sing it quickly once you get used to it.

Nandome no Aozora ka, released in 2014 as Nogizaka46’s 10th single.

Centered by Erika Ikuta, the song overflows with clarity, and its lyrics feel as if they’re facing inward toward one’s own heart.

The vocal range is relatively narrow, so for women with an average voice range it’s one of the easier Nogizaka46 songs to sing.

It’s different from a straightforward positive or cheer-up song, but when you finish singing it, you feel refreshed somehow—as if you might just find an answer.

It’s that kind of song.

In the past, there were many male artists with low voices, but recently light, androgynous vocals have become mainstream, making male artists’ songs much easier for women to sing.

So this time, I’d like to introduce Fnyoi, sung by the singer-songwriter Wanuka.

Because this track is arranged as orthodox pop music, it tends to be far less demanding vocally compared to genres like R&B.

There aren’t many high notes either, so even women who aren’t confident in their pitch can sing it with ease.
