[Nostalgic hits] Dance music that resonates with people in their 30s. Popular dance tracks.

This time, I’m introducing dance music that really resonates with people in their 30s!

In the Reiwa era, new music is updated every day, and thanks to social media, older songs sometimes make a comeback and become hits again.

With that in mind, I’ve put together a selection of Heisei-era hit songs that especially strike a chord with those in their 30s!

These tracks have a unique charm specific to that era, different from today’s Reiwa sound, so I hope younger listeners will check them out too.

I’d be thrilled if listening to the songs I’m about to introduce brings back some nostalgic memories from those days.

Let’s get started!

The☆Peace!Morning Musume

Morning Musume. “The☆Peace!” (MV)
The Peace! by Morning Musume

This is Morning Musume’s 12th single, released in July 2001.

Its election-themed lyrics are striking, conveying a message that invites us to reconsider the peace and love found in everyday life.

It was also used as the opening theme for TV Tokyo’s “Find the Idol!” and is known as the first song with Rika Ishikawa as center.

With a Charleston-style jazz interlude and a music video featuring the members dancing in sailor outfits, it’s full of elements that leave a lasting impression.

The cute choreography is another highlight.

It’s a great song to listen to when you want to feel your connection with someone important or with society.

POP STAR Ken Hirai

This song is known as one of Ken Hirai’s signature works.

Released in November 2005, it drew attention as the theme song for Fuji TV’s Monday 9 PM drama “Dangerous Beauty” (Kiken na Aneki).

It features a bright, catchy melody that brings out a pop sensibility to the fullest.

The lyrics center on themes of self-affirmation and love for others, delivering warmth to listeners.

The track is also said to symbolize a turning point in Hirai’s music, signaling a shift from his earlier ballad-focused style toward a more pop-oriented direction.

The music video’s catchy choreography is another highlight.

It’s the perfect song for a drive or when you want a change of pace.

if…DA PUMP

DA PUMP / if… (short ver.)
if...DA PUMP

Released in September 2000, this song is quintessentially DA PUMP.

The lyrics, themed around love and farewell, express deep feelings for the other person and anxieties about the future.

Using the darkness of night and the light of the moon as symbols, the striking choice of words portrays a struggle against fate and the passage of time.

It was also used in a Sharp “Mebius” commercial, leaving a lasting impression on many listeners.

This work showcases DA PUMP’s ballad side, characterized by a catchy melody and profound emotional expression.

The dance performance for the ballad is cool and captivating as well.

When you find yourself at a crossroads in love or life, why not listen to it as a song that can support your heart?

Rhyme Wave Phrase DisciplesCHEHON

CHEHON – Inpakutto / THE FIRST TAKE
Rhyme Wave Poet CHEHON

Osaka reggae anthem “Inbakuto.” I think it’s rare for people who were in their 20s to have enjoyed it in real time when it was released, but there are probably many who discovered it through CHEHON’s participation in MC battles.

Although the track is structured with few break points, its vocal range is narrow, so as long as you memorize the lyrics and flow, you should be able to sing it without any issues.

It’s a sure-fire hit for guys’ karaoke, so definitely add it to your repertoire.

Its popularity is high, and its power to ignite crowds at live shows is truly one of a kind.

Paired with its surreal, unique choreography, dancing it as a group for a skit or performance will undoubtedly make for an unforgettable memory!

A signature song by Ken Matsudaira that sparked a social phenomenon with its lavish, glittering gold kimono and irresistibly cheerful performance.

Though billed as a samba, it blends elements from various Latin music traditions—like flamenco-style calls—creating a sheer, no-logic-needed sense of fun.

The upbeat, unforgettable melody lifts your spirits from the first listen! Released as a mini-album in July 2004, it was also performed at the 55th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen that same year.

Whether on social media or at year-end parties and events, get everyone dancing and the excitement is guaranteed to hit the roof!

SeventiesKING & QUEEN

This is a track that modernizes the 1970s disco sound, released by KING & QUEEN in July 1996.

Its four-on-the-floor rhythm and catchy melody instantly elevate your mood while driving! Set to a high-speed, exhilarating beat, the male-female call-and-response vocals are a perfect duet—pure Eurobeat essence that invites you into an extraordinary thrill.

Influenced by the retro boom of the time yet refreshed with a unique twist, this song frequently appeared on music shows as one of their signature tracks.

Put it on while cruising the highway or driving at night, and you’ll swear your car has transformed into a legendary machine.

An ideal pick for drivers who want to color their weekend nights with something special!
