In this article, we’ll focus on the music used in Ariel’s commercials.

While Ariel’s commercials often feature original songs created specifically for the ads, in the past they have also used tracks by popular idols and classical pieces.

We’ve gathered them across different eras, so feel free to look for the CM song you’ve been curious about.

Ariel commercial songs (1–10)

Ariel Ion Power Gel: “Life and Stains”

Original songTaro Umebayashi (milk)

This is the Ariel Ion Power Gel “Life and Stains” commercial.

The song is an original track for the ad, composed by Taro Umebayashi, a composer who graduated from the Composition Department of Tokyo University of the Arts and also works on his solo project, milk.

The graceful melody played by the wind instruments is beautiful, isn’t it?

Ariel Power Gel Ball 3D: “Laundry Deodorant” Edition

Original songYuta Uragi

Yuta Uraki: Pause (Composers' Society “Shining” 9th Wind Ensemble Works Exhibition)
Original song Yuta Uragi

A commercial for Ariel Power Gel Ball featuring Toma Ikuta, who gives a lecture on summer clothing stains.

The music in this ad is by Yuta Uraki, known for composing for various TV commercials, corporate promo videos, and film/TV scores.

In the first half, a cute, comedic melody—reminiscent of the game “Daruma-san ga koronda” (Red Light, Green Light)—matches the uneasy movements of the audience during the lecture.

In the second half, a refreshingly bright melody blows away those pesky summer stains.

Beyond showcasing the product’s excellence, the melody perfectly fits the product’s summer image, making it hard not to feel the urge to buy!

Ariel/Bold Gel Ball 3D “Street Interview” Version

Original songKei Iwasaki (Sekaichi)

CLS Room presents Vol.01: Brother & Sister (Kei Iwasaki (Sekaiichi) & Ai Iwasaki) short ver.
Original song by Kei Iwasaki (Sekaiichi)

A TV commercial for Ariel Gel Balls featuring man-on-the-street interviews about doing laundry.

The duo Bananaman also appear, and the song used in the commercial was composed by Kei Iwasaki, the vocalist and guitarist of Sekaiichi.

The bright horn sounds that play alongside the introduction of the gel balls—perfect for tackling stubborn stains—feel refreshingly crisp! The punchy sound conveys just how effective the product is.

Listening to such a fun melody, even tough laundry might feel easier to handle with a cheerful mood!

Living Dry Gel Ball 3D: “Room-Drying Rescue” Edition

Original songYuki Ono

Ariel Living Dry Gel Ball 3D – Indoor Drying Rescue Edition [30 seconds]

This commercial featuring Toma Ikuta is Ariel’s “Living-Dry Gel Ball 3D,” released in March 2018.

Many people struggle with musty odors when drying laundry indoors, and the ad promotes that this detergent reduces that smell thanks to its antibacterial action.

By the way, “antibacterial” does not mean it reduces or kills bacteria, but rather that it inhibits their growth, so if your washing machine has developed too much mold, be sure to clean it.

The music is an original track for the commercial, composed by Yuki Ono—a composer, arranger, and music producer who has worked as a sound designer in New York and primarily creates music for commercials.

"How to Gel Ball" Edition

Original songReina Haruyama / Risa Mizuki

"How To Gel Ball" Commercial | Ariel Laundry Detergent | P&G 586×330 MOV

This is a commercial for Ariel Gel Ball laundry detergent featuring Toma Ikuta in a lab coat.

As the title “How to Gel Ball” suggests, it teaches you how to use the gel balls.

Two women, who appear to be researchers, clearly explain that you shouldn’t put them in the detergent drawer; instead, place the gel ball directly into the drum and then load the laundry on top.

But because they deliver the explanation while singing and dancing lightly, it becomes a bit silly—and you can’t help but laugh.

“Even during the rainy season, 24-hour reliable antibacterial protection” version

Original songShimba Juto

Toma Ikuta — P&G Ariel “Thorough Antibacterial Protection for 24 Hours, Even During the Rainy Season” (version)

During the rainy season, everyone struggles with the “laundry problem.” You can’t hang clothes outside, they don’t dry easily, and above all, there’s that indoor-drying smell.

A parent and child feel down as they look out at the rain and their laundry hanging inside… when Toma Ikuta suddenly appears, dancing with an umbrella.

He promotes Ariel’s 24-hour antibacterial effect that keeps indoor-dried laundry okay and odor-free! But honestly, it’s hard not to get distracted by Toma Ikuta’s light-footed moves and the musical-like backdrop in this commercial (lol).
