ButterfliesKacey Musgraves

A song brimming with the charm of Kacey Musgraves, a country singer-songwriter who took flight from the American country music scene: “Butterflies.” Released as the second single from her 2018 album Golden Hour, it features the gentle embrace of acoustic guitar and piano, with a subtle electronic beat that enhances her tender yet wistful vocals.

The track paints the boundless joy of being in love and the sense of change that lifts you out of the everyday.

Its lyrics capture the exhilaration of breaking free from constraints and discovering new love.

It’s recommended for moments when you want to feel your heart grow lighter, or when you want to relax in the soft light of spring.

It gives a sense of shadow, yet the overall tone is on the brighter side.

I like the slightly muffled quality of the vocals.

“April Skies” was included on the 1987 album Darklands.

It was The Jesus and Mary Chain’s second album, and “April Skies” has a finish that feels like oldies mixed with an ’80s flavor.

Sing Joy SpringThe Manhattan Transfer

It’s a jazz standard, and in short, they’re just superb—there’s no other word for it.

Their voices are like precision instruments.

“Sing Joy Spring” was included on their masterpiece album Vocalese, released in 1985, and the lineup of performers features a host of outstanding jazz musicians, starting with Art Farmer and McCoy Turner.

Charlie Puth, an artist from New Jersey who gained worldwide attention with the Fast & Furious theme song “See You Again ft.

Charlie Puth.” Many of you may already know him.

His track “Light Switch,” released in January 2022, is a standout piece featuring melodies that strongly reflect elements of synth-pop, a genre that was trendy in the 1980s.

It might feel similar to The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” but its lively melody is sure to add a fun touch to the spring atmosphere.

The First Day Of SpringFriends

A power pop track with a sense of speed.

The horn section is striking.

A vivid song that really conveys the exciting mood of early spring.

Friends were a British neo-acoustic band on par with Aztec Camera and Orange Juice.

“The First Day Of Spring” was a hit tune that was played repeatedly in clubs around 1990.

Circles On BlackJosh Lawrence

This ambitious work, which opens up new possibilities for modern jazz, is a track by Josh Lawrence.

Included on the album “Contrast,” it was released in March 2018.

The trumpet’s tone rings out as if heralding the arrival of spring, letting listeners feel the beginning of a new season.

Reinterpreting jazz tradition through a contemporary sensibility, the piece is an adventurous attempt to fuse color theory with music.

It’s the perfect song for a cheerful spring afternoon, perhaps while taking a stroll with someone you love.

Spring Can Really Hang You Up The MostNorah Jones

Norah Jones is a hugely popular jazz singer in Japan as well.

Her music isn’t hardcore jazz; it incorporates elements of pop, which may be part of why she’s so beloved.

Among her works, the one I most recommend for a spring-themed piece is “Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most.” It originally began as a poem, but gained popularity after being arranged as a jazz number, and today it’s known as an orthodox slow jazz standard.
