This time, we’ve selected particularly challenging songs from among those with wide ranges.
Rather than simply being high, these picks consider both the high and low ends of the range.
Since the goal is to sing them at karaoke, many well-known pop songs are included.

S-Rank Difficulty!? A Compilation of Songs with Wide Vocal Ranges (101–110)
MainstreamBE:FIRST

Vocal groups in Japan have undergone major changes.
With the addition of K-pop-like elements, there is now a much higher demand for vocal ability and dance performance than before.
The boys group that sparked this movement is BE:FIRST.
Their hit song “Mainstream” is hard-hitting, hip-hop-influenced dance music, and falsetto appears throughout.
It also features low-register rap, giving the song an impressive overall vocal range.
Give it a try!
Play The GameOrin (apple variety)

The female TV personality Ourin, who’s been very active on variety shows, has recently been stepping up her work as an artist as well, frequently ranking high on the charts.
Among her tracks, the one I’d recommend as a high-note challenge is Play The Game.
It’s a piece that seems to emulate the musical style of the world-renowned British singer Dua Lipa, featuring a disco-meets-electropop vibe.
While it doesn’t have an abundance of high notes, the mixed voice that comes in toward the end of the chorus poses a fair level of difficulty.
Professionalism feat. HannyaAli

ALI is a band centered on funk and soul whose musicality has earned high praise from hardcore music aficionados.
If you’re into Black music, you’ve probably heard of them.
The track where they collaborate with rapper Hannya is “Professionalism feat.
Hannya.” While the range isn’t extremely wide, the repeated use of falsetto makes it more challenging than it sounds.
If you want it to come across well, try singing the mid-range with rich overtones.
to singimase

Singer-songwriter imase stands out for pop music that resonates with teens and people in their twenties, blending relatable lyrics with an R&B essence.
His songs are also known for featuring lots of high notes.
Among his works, the one I especially recommend is “Utau.” The entire chorus is sung in falsetto.
It has a light, airy delivery, so it’s really a song only for those who can easily hit high notes.
Considering that, it’s definitely a track that ranks at S level.
UnstoppableSooyoung

Sooyoung, the idol who was hugely active in the early 2010s as a member of Girls’ Generation.
She’s extremely fluent in Japanese and has now made her major solo debut in Japan.
Her new song is Unstoppable.
The track is crafted with a vibe reminiscent of early-2000s Japanese R&B.
The challenging point of this piece is the falsetto in the chorus.
It’s not just about hitting high notes—you have to sing them with a sexy nuance, which demands considerable expressive skill.
Difficulty S-Class!? A Collection of Songs with Wide Vocal Ranges (111–120)
The Spider’s ThreadTohru

Singer-songwriter Tomaki, who gained nationwide popularity after performing the theme song for the film “Suzume,” might surprise those who strongly associate her with that track.
In fact, her body of work can be quite edgy, and she occasionally releases songs that prioritize artistic sensibility over commercial appeal.
This piece is one such song.
While it’s composed with an image of early Showa-era jazz, the vocal line is fairly demanding, featuring very high falsetto.
In addition, there are dramatic pitch jumps, so delivering it properly requires considerable pitch control.
Phantom DivePolkadot Stingray

Polkadot Stingray’s classic track “Ghost Dive,” released as the fifth installment of the Pokémon anime’s music project “Pokémon Music Collective.” This work incorporates electro swing—a jazz genre popular in Australia and Germany—and demands advanced falsetto in the A section, chorus, and bridge.
It can be sung in chest voice as well, but in any case, since it sits in a high register, it will require considerable vocal stamina.
