If you’re talking about the coolest three-piece bands, theirs is one of the first names that comes up.

Their frontman Lemmy, so charismatic that he inspired the documentary film Lemmy, anchored the group with his distinctive gravelly voice and bass lines that matched any guitar for sheer presence.

Built around that, their tight, muscular three-piece attack—at times tinged with the scent of the blues—shaped a rock ’n’ roll sound that had a massive impact on both hardcore punk and heavy metal, and, as noted at the outset, won over music fans across genres.

The band kept going as a cross-genre powerhouse until December 2015, when Lemmy sadly passed away from terminal cancer.

With 2001’s Origin of Symmetry they revealed a more grand, ambitious side and reached No.

3 on the UK charts, and from 2003’s further-evolved Absolution onward, every album has debuted at No.

1 in the UK.

They enjoy immense popularity across Europe, the United States, and Japan, and their live performances—capable of overwhelming vast stadium audiences—are also particularly noteworthy.
