This time, I’ve selected some famous Western songs from 2000s commercials—the kind that feel like you can almost remember them, but not quite.

SmileRod Stewart

This is the song that was used in Toyota’s Estima minivan commercial in 2004.

The song, Smile, was composed by the king of comedy Charles Chaplin for his film Modern Times as a piece within the movie.

Lyrics were later added, and it became a classic covered by many musicians.

The version used in this commercial is by the British singer Rod Stewart.

JUKEBOXBENT FABRIC

The song “Jukebox,” released in 2006, is a collaboration between jazz pianist Bent Fabric, who was 81 at the time, and a vocalist in their twenties.

The track was used as the theme song for a SoftBank Mobile commercial featuring Brad Pitt.

Born SlippyUnderworld

This is the song that was used in the commercial for Toyota’s WiLL VS in 2001.

It’s a 1995 track by the British techno group Underworld, which became famous for being featured in the film Trainspotting.

It’s a 1995 work by the British soprano Sarah Brightman, and in Japan it’s probably better known not as the Mark X commercial song, but as the theme song for Japan national team soccer broadcasts on TV Asahi.

This song, “Hey Mama,” was included on Elephunk, the third album released in 2003 by the American hip-hop/rap group the Black Eyed Peas.

The track was featured in an Apple iPod commercial.

If we’re talking about a miraculous rock ‘n’ roll band that has not only avoided breaking up but has continued performing with its original members from debut to the present, it’s U2 from Ireland.

Their 2004 release ‘Vertigo’ was used in an Apple iPod commercial, in which they also appeared as silhouettes.
