Bling-Bang-Bang-BornCreepy Nuts

One of the biggest hits of 2024, Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born.” Despite its nationwide popularity, it’s actually a fairly challenging track, featuring complex flows throughout.

To pull it off, you’ll need excellent diction and a strong sense of rhythm.

It goes over great at karaoke, so consider adding it to your repertoire.

If it feels too tough, teaming up with a friend to sing it is a solid option.

waxing; filling up; becoming full; growing (e.g., the moon growing fuller)Fujii Kaze

Fujii Kaze, waxing

Fujii Kaze’s masterpiece “Michita Yuku.” Unlike his usual musical style, which blends a laid-back feel with a danceable vibe, this song maintains a calm atmosphere from start to finish.

In terms of style, it might be close to the kind of neo-soul Anthony Hamilton would do.

The tricky part of this piece is, above all, the low notes.

The quiet arrangement is the only saving grace, but since the low range appears repeatedly, you need to maintain vocal power down low.

On top of that, it features “fakes,” the advanced R&B embellishments often found in his songs, so definitely give it a try.

Blue HabitatTatsuya Kitani

Tatsuya Kitani’s masterpiece “Aono Sumika.” While he has many hit numbers, this song is among his most popular.

One of its challenging aspects is the repeatedly used falsetto.

Even the fairly wide vocal range alone makes it a difficult piece, but on top of that, it features sudden rises and drops in pitch.

The switch between falsetto and chest voice in the chorus is especially hard, so if you’re confident in your pitch control, definitely give it a try.

Wherever you areONE OK ROCK

This song is included on ONE OK ROCK’s fourth original album, Niche Syndrome, which was released in June 2010.

In 2016 it was featured in NTT Docomo’s TV commercial “Family,” among many other tie-ins, and has become a long-selling, major hit.

From the very beginning of the track, Taka’s achingly emotional high tone bursts forth, and just hearing it hints at how high the bar is for singing this song at karaoke.

The most crucial aspect of performing it is controlling a wide range of high notes—from the wistful timbre at the start to the powerful delivery in the chorus.

If you sing by clamping your throat, not only will you fail to achieve the artist’s open, ringing sound, but you may also hurt your throat.

Keep that in mind, and aim to deliver the song with a full, resonant voice.

INZMNumber_i

INZMNumber_i

Number_i is an idol group supported by women nationwide.

In stark contrast to their King & Prince era, they’ve gained popularity with a music style centered on hip-hop and R&B.

Among Number_i’s tracks, the one I especially recommend as a high-difficulty piece is INZM.

This work is rooted in hip-hop and features extremely challenging flows.

While the vocal line itself is simple, it demands a strong sense of rhythm, so very few people can handle it solo.

Definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.

Former Kis-My-Ft2 member Hiromitsu Kitayama’s second solo single, released in December 2023.

It’s a pretty cool up-tempo track, isn’t it? When it comes to singing this song, the most important thing by far is how well you can recreate the original—his incredibly sharp, yet comfortably groovy vocal delivery.

I don’t think the vocal melody or the phrases themselves are particularly difficult to sing, so it’s also a great piece for practicing rhythm and how to handle rests within phrases.

Study the original closely, paying attention to how notes are cut off and sustained, then give it a try.

KanadeSukima Switch

Kanade (Kana-de) - Sukima Switch

It was Sukima Switch’s second single, released in March 2004.

In addition to being used as an insert song in the film “Rough,” it secured many other tie-ins.

To sing this song well at karaoke, it’s important to create a contrast between the slightly heartwarming mood of the first half and the powerful delivery from the D section into the final chorus.

Pay attention to how the beat feels in each part of the song as you sing.
