Shawn Mendes is a Canadian singer-songwriter who’s gained popularity with his sweet looks and lyrics drawn from real-life experiences.

While his early work had a pop sensibility, his recent music has a slightly edgier feel.

His 2024 track “Why Why Why” is a standout that became a hit primarily in the English-speaking world.

The pitch movement in the chorus is somewhat distinctive, but the overall range is quite narrow, and it doesn’t feature challenging vocal techniques like runs or hiccups.

Definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.

Karaoke song choices change depending on the generation.

No matter how many new hits there are, the middle-aged generation tends to sing the songs that were popular a while back.

The advantage is that familiar, comforting melodies are easier to sing because they help you relax.

This group had massive hits back then, so it’s perfectly fine to learn their songs now and sing them.

Raindrops Keep Falling on my HeadB.J.Thomas

“Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” is a classic that even those not well-versed in Western music have probably heard at least once.

The song is performed by B.

J.

Thomas and is known in Japan by its Japanese title “Ame ni Nuretemo.” It’s also beloved for cover versions by Keisuke Kuwata and Masayoshi Yamazaki.

If jumping straight into the original feels tough, why not start with a Japanese cover version to master the melody first?

Elton John is a singer-songwriter who represents the United Kingdom.

The title of his biographical film is also “Rocket Man.” The song portrays the loneliness of an astronaut traveling to Mars alone.

Once you learn the lyrics, you’ll surely find them relatable.

The track even has parts that are so slow they’re almost spoken.

Be sure to practice your pronunciation especially in those sections.

By the way, there are two versions of the recording—one released in the UK and one in the US—so be mindful of which one you use as your reference.

The rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Among their songs, one I’d recommend as easy to sing is “Simple Man.” It’s a country rock track—a genre that isn’t as intense as what people typically think of as rock, yet not as mellow as country music.

A clear difference you can notice is the presence of drums.

Also, in this song, the chorus strongly brings out a rock vibe, making it perfect for livening up the atmosphere.

Carry You HomeAlex Warren

Musician Alex Warren, who enjoys overwhelming support from Gen Z, is one of the most successful artists on social media and continues to drop many hit tunes.

Among his works, the one I especially recommend is Carry You Home.

It’s a fast-paced track, but the vocal range is narrow and it doesn’t require advanced techniques like “fake,” similar to the kobushi ornamentation in enka.

If you focus on adding vocal thickness in the chorus, it will sound even better—so definitely give it a listen.

Singer-songwriter Mark Amber is active mainly in New York.

He rose to popularity on TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to be beloved by younger audiences to this day.

Among his songs, the one I especially recommend is Belong Together.

Although it was released in February 2024, it became a long-running hit that remained near the top of the charts even into the second half of 2024.

The track features a gentle, country-style arrangement and a vocal line with little fluctuation.

There are no particularly difficult vocal techniques involved, and it doesn’t require much in the way of fundamentals like sustained notes or vibrato, making it a very easy song to sing.
