Karaoke songs that are easy and fun for high school students to sing

Compared to today’s songs, older tracks didn’t pack in as many words.

Because of that, many of them were, on the surface, easier to sing than modern songs.

That doesn’t mean today’s songs are necessarily harder, though.

Since recent songs tend to cram in more words, it’s actually easier to disguise flaws, so depending on the track, some can be quite easy for anyone to sing well.

This time, I’ve picked out songs from that category that I especially recommend for high school students.

We’ll be featuring the latest tracks, so be sure to check it out to the end!

Kusege Saucy Dog

Saucy Dog is a rock band that’s gained popularity for their catchy sound.

Among high school students, they’re probably one of the most mainstream bands, right? That said, many people find Saucy Dog songs difficult because they often feature lots of high notes.

That’s why I recommend Kusege.

Unusually for a Saucy Dog track, this song has a relatively narrow vocal range.

The pitch movements are fairly gentle, making pitch control easier.

If you lock in the rhythm, you should be able to aim for a high score at karaoke.

Definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.

Garari – A Passing Shower at 2 PM [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
A sudden passing shower at two in the afternoon, rattling.

Garari is a singer-songwriter who has gained popularity for their literary lyrics.

Because many of their songs are introspective, they may be especially moving for high school students charging through their youth.

Among Garari’s tracks, the one I particularly recommend is “A Passing Shower at 2 PM.” Its distinctive use of rests requires a good sense of rhythm, but the song’s narrow vocal range makes the melody line itself very easy.

If you pay attention to the key change in the chorus, you should be able to aim for a high score at karaoke.

FOREVERCHANMINA

Chanmina is one of Japan’s leading female rappers.

She rose to prominence through rap battles and has been consistently releasing hit tracks ever since.

Among her songs, the one I especially recommend to high school students for its singability is “FOREVER.” Though it’s a relatively lesser-known track, its melody is extremely catchy.

The rap parts are understated, and the vocal line stays mellow within a narrow range throughout.

Even those who struggle with high notes or find singing difficult due to a changing voice can handle it, so be sure to check it out.

MAYBEAi Tomioka

MAYBE Ai Tomioka

Ai Tomioka is a singer-songwriter whose music shows a notable influence from Taylor Swift.

They say artists’ styles often resemble those who inspire them, and she’s no exception, excelling at melodies with a Western pop feel.

Among her works, the one I especially recommend is MAYBE.

It’s a country-tinged piece with an overall languid, wistful atmosphere.

The vocal line has a narrow range and few long sustained notes, making it very easy to sing.

Be sure to add it to your repertoire.

Love Toxin and Wanu-ka

Wanuka is a singer-songwriter popular among young people.

As the name suggests, their motto is to infuse a Japanese flair into their music, and the somewhat Showa-esque style is striking.

Among Wanuka’s songs, the one I particularly recommend as easy for high schoolers to sing is “Love Toxin.” The A and B sections have a kayokyoku (Japanese pop) feel, while the chorus carries a slightly Chinese-pop-like atmosphere.

Every part has that Showa touch and is easy to sing, so be sure to check it out.

First NightYorushika

Yorushika – First Night (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
Yorushika, First Night

Yorushika is a musical duo known for their ennui-tinged sound and abstract, thought-provoking lyrics.

If you’re a high school student, you’ve probably heard them at least once—they’re a very famous act, and I imagine many of you are fans.

Among Yorushika’s songs, the one I especially recommend is “First Night.” This piece features the quiet, crystal-clear melodies that are common in Yorushika’s works.

The vocal lines are consequently set at a relatively low difficulty.

The song also has a narrow vocal range, making it a good choice for those who struggle with high notes.
