Aim for a high score! A collection of easy-to-sing karaoke songs recommended for high school students

When karaoke has a scoring feature, you can’t help wanting to go for a high score, right?

I’m sure many of you enjoy competing for high scores with your friends.

This time, for high school students who love karaoke, I’ve selected some songs that seem relatively easy to sing and good for aiming at high scores.

The key to getting a high score at karaoke is, above all else, to memorize the melody and rhythm (note values) accurately!

If you want to aim for a high score, listen closely to the guide melody, memorize it, and then try singing.

If you’re thinking, “There’s no way I can memorize all that,” one trick might be to turn up the guide melody volume so it’s easier to hear while you sing.

Some of the individual song introduction articles also include advice specifically for getting high scores, so be sure to use this article as a reference and get a leg up on your friends!

Aim for a high score! Recommended karaoke songs for high school students — Easy-to-sing picks (71–80)

SisterPorno Graffitti

Sister Pornography

This is Porno Graffitti’s 15th single overall, released in September 2004.

The slightly Latin-tinged, wistful melody and arrangement are striking.

Because many sections develop through repeated phrases, it’s very singable and, in that sense, relatively easy to aim for a perfect 100 in karaoke.

Pay attention to details like how you connect and cut off notes as you sing.

Also, as mentioned, the rhythm arrangement has a subtle Latin-style sway; to keep it from becoming monotonous, it’s important to really feel the song’s beat and rhythm—this will be key if you’re aiming for a perfect score.

MiracleGReeeeN

GReeeeN’s 7th single, released in May 2008.

It was used as the theme song for the TBS drama “ROOKIES.” The overall key of the song is high, so some people might feel hesitant about singing it, but the vocal range isn’t actually that wide.

As long as you find the key that suits you best, aiming for a high karaoke score shouldn’t be too difficult.

Of course, it’s especially recommended for men with higher voices! Try practicing so you can deliver the rap section stylishly during the song.

You don't listen to rock.Aimyon

You Don’t Listen to Rock, Aimyon

This is Aimyon’s third major-label single, released in August 2017.

The vocal melody doesn’t cover a very wide range, and the tempo is mid-range, making it very easy to sing and groove to.

It might be one of the best songs to choose when you’re aiming for a high score at karaoke.

Try to sing each word of the lyrics carefully and powerfully.

Also, be sure to listen closely to the backing track so your singing doesn’t rush ahead of the rhythm.

To tell the truth,Young Skinny

Young Skinny – Actually, You Know, [Official Music Video]
The truth is, you know, Young Skinny.

This is the seventh digital-only single by Young Skinny, a four-piece Japanese rock band, released in October 2022.

It’s a relaxed, mid-tempo track with a slightly heartwarming vibe that’s part of its charm.

The vocal melody doesn’t span a very wide range, and like the overall feel of the song, it’s written with a very straightforward melody.

That means the general public should be able to aim for a high karaoke score with it.

There are a few slightly higher notes, but try not to tighten your throat; instead, aim your voice toward the upper palate inside your mouth as you sing.

I’m sure it’ll feel just right!

uneven; bumpy; irregularKiyoe Yoshioka

Bumpy Kiyoe Yoshioka

This is the sixth solo single by Kiyoe Yoshioka, the lead vocalist of Ikimonogakari, released in April 2022.

It was the opening theme for the TV Asahi anime A Couple of Cuckoos.

The bright, up-tempo track pairs perfectly with Yoshioka’s radiant vocals, making it a song that just listening to can lift your spirits.

It’s also quite easy to sing at karaoke, but if you’re aiming for a high score, be careful not to rush the rhythm when singing the chorus, which is built around relatively broad melodic lines.

If you sing as if placing your voice against your upper palate, you’ll get closer to her sparkling vocal quality.

Easy★RiderTamio Okuda

Easy★Rider Tamio Okuda

When it comes to musicians who write lots of easy-to-sing songs, Tamio Okuda is probably the first who comes to mind.

With his band Unicorn, there are tracks with fast tempos and ones that require strong vocal power, but many of the songs from his solo projects are quite singable.

Among them, “Easy Rider” is a great choice even for people who aren’t good at karaoke to aim for a high score.

That’s because, for male singers, it’s relatively easy to imitate Tamio Okuda’s style, which naturally helps boost your score.

If you just sing it casually with a laid-back vibe, I think you can reliably score in the 80s!

After-school[Alexandros]

After School [Alexandros]

[Alexandros] is a band that has produced numerous classic songs.

Even those not well-versed in Japanese rock have probably heard their music at least once.

Among their tracks, the one I especially recommend is “After School.” While it has the essence of J-rock, it strongly incorporates elements of overseas alternative rock throughout, featuring a refreshing and composed vocal line.

It’s a notably understated piece: the vocals have minimal ups and downs and a relatively narrow range, making it an ideal song for aiming at a perfect score.
