Aim for a high score! A collection of easy-to-sing karaoke songs recommended for high school students

When karaoke has a scoring feature, you can’t help wanting to go for a high score, right?

I’m sure many of you enjoy competing for high scores with your friends.

This time, for high school students who love karaoke, I’ve selected some songs that seem relatively easy to sing and good for aiming at high scores.

The key to getting a high score at karaoke is, above all else, to memorize the melody and rhythm (note values) accurately!

If you want to aim for a high score, listen closely to the guide melody, memorize it, and then try singing.

If you’re thinking, “There’s no way I can memorize all that,” one trick might be to turn up the guide melody volume so it’s easier to hear while you sing.

Some of the individual song introduction articles also include advice specifically for getting high scores, so be sure to use this article as a reference and get a leg up on your friends!

Aim for a high score! A roundup of easy-to-sing karaoke songs recommended for high school students (81–90)

On this day of goodbyeAimyon

Aimyon – On the Day of Goodbye [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]
AIMYON on this farewell day

This is Aimyon’s first digital-only single, released in February 2020.

Aimyon is quite a skilled vocalist, but since the vocal range used here isn’t very wide and the melody isn’t complex—easy to remember and approachable—I think you can definitely aim for a high score with this song.

Another recommendation is that the key sits comfortably for women with lower voices.

Just be careful not to let your singing sound too flat.

I wish you lots of happinessNaniwa Danshi

Sachi Are Naniwa Danshi

This is the second single by the idol group Naniwa Danshi, released in April 2022.

It was chosen as the theme song for Fuji TV’s “Mezamashi TV.” With both its melody and rhythm being very easy to grasp, the track is like a textbook example of an idol song, making it a top recommendation when you want to aim for a high karaoke score! If you sing while feeling the accents on beats 2 and 4, you’ll be able to better recreate the light, upbeat vibe of the original.

Enjoy singing brightly and energetically—have fun “singing” and “projecting your voice” with lots of energy!

YONA YONA DANCEAkiko Wada

A digital-only single by Akiko Wada, released on September 2, 2021.

By the time of this release, Wada had already been in show business for over 50 years, yet she boldly took on a dance-style track like this one, making it a work that inevitably conveys her strong professional ethos.

Another factor that makes you think “as expected!” is that she doesn’t change her vocal style to match the arrangement or the musical trend.

For high schoolers, Akiko Wada might be an artist older than your own grandmother, but please give it a try and have fun singing it! The vocal melody is very straightforward, so it should be easy to aim for a high score!

Precious LoveEXILE ATSUSHI

Released in October 2014 as ATSUSHI from EXILE’s sixth single.

I imagine many of you thought, “Huh? Isn’t it hard to score high with this song?” But if you listen closely, it’s built on a very straightforward, easy-to-understand melody, so there’s nothing to fear! The tempo also makes it easy to sing and great for aiming at a high score, so definitely give it a try.

To match ATSUSHI’s expressive power, you’ll need to master falsetto and mixed voice; for now, accurately tracing the song and achieving a high score is a good first goal.

After that, you can focus on vocal tone and expressive delivery as your next step.

It’s a song that lets you enjoy the process of mastering it.

Loop & LoopASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION

Songs that don’t suddenly speed up or slow down are easier to sing, right? When the tempo is mostly steady, you’re less likely to mess up the lyrics, and it’s easier to stay on pitch.

With that in mind, I recommend “Loop & Loop” by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION.

Masafumi Gotoh’s vocals are mostly in his natural chest voice, so I think it’s very comfortable for men to sing.

The tempo stays fairly consistent through the verses and the chorus, and there’s no key change in the chorus, which also makes it easier to sing.

White Noise Official HIGE DANDism

This is Official HIGE DANDism’s ninth digital single, released in January 2023.

It was written as the opening theme for the TV anime Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc.

With its comfortable, lively medium-to-up-tempo groove, it’s a pop song that should be easy for anyone to get into.

Compared to many of HIGE DAN’s songs, which often feature intricate melodies, the vocal line here is relatively simple—another reason it’s a great choice if you’re aiming for a high score at karaoke.

Since there are lots of high notes in the latter half of the song, if you’re not confident with high tones, try lowering the key when you sing.

Aim for High Scores! Karaoke Songs That Are Easy for High Schoolers to Sing (91–100)

I love youback number

It’s the sixth digital single by the Japanese rock band back number, released in April 2022.

In addition to being used as the theme song for the NHK morning drama series “Soar High!” (Maiagare!), it also appears to have been selected as the entrance march for the 95th Memorial National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament in 2023, making it a perfect recommendation for high school students.

Personally, I’m a bit curious how this relatively gentle, bittersweet song will be arranged as a march.

The melody itself and the way the lyrics ride on it are very straightforward, so I feel it’s relatively easy to aim for a high karaoke score.

There are parts in the chorus where you need to switch to falsetto for the high notes, so if that’s not your strong suit, try lowering the key of the backing track.

If you sing it in the original key, practice so you can switch registers smoothly.
