Aim for a high score! A collection of easy-to-sing karaoke songs recommended for high school students

When karaoke has a scoring feature, you can’t help wanting to go for a high score, right?

I’m sure many of you enjoy competing for high scores with your friends.

This time, for high school students who love karaoke, I’ve selected some songs that seem relatively easy to sing and good for aiming at high scores.

The key to getting a high score at karaoke is, above all else, to memorize the melody and rhythm (note values) accurately!

If you want to aim for a high score, listen closely to the guide melody, memorize it, and then try singing.

If you’re thinking, “There’s no way I can memorize all that,” one trick might be to turn up the guide melody volume so it’s easier to hear while you sing.

Some of the individual song introduction articles also include advice specifically for getting high scores, so be sure to use this article as a reference and get a leg up on your friends!

Aim for a high score! A roundup of easy-to-sing karaoke songs recommended for high school students (11–20)

FOREVERCHANMINA

Chanmina, a female rapper who enjoys overwhelming support from women in their teens to thirties.

She has many iconic songs, but quite a few are difficult, so many people may hesitate to add them to their repertoire.

That’s why I recommend this track, “FOREVER.” The hip-hop elements are toned down, and it has an overall pop feel.

The vocal lines are chill, without complex ups and downs in pitch throughout.

It’s a very easy song to sing, so be sure to check it out.

Yorushika’s new song “Taiyo” (“Sun”).

Yorushika always releases languid, emo-tinged tracks, and that musical style is alive and well here, too.

Among their works, this one in particular is arranged with a notably calm atmosphere.

The low register is a bit heavy, so some female singers might need to raise the key, but overall the vocal line is simple, making it perfect for aiming for a high score.

It also goes over great at karaoke, so definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.

This is Sambomaster’s 23rd single, released in August 2023.

It was selected as the theme song for Toho’s distributed animated film “New Dimension! Crayon Shin-chan THE MOVIE: Battle of Supernatural Powers — Fly, Fly, Hand-rolled Sushi.” It’s an upbeat, lively pop-rock track that’s fun to listen to! The vocal melody is very simple, and the range used isn’t very wide, so you could call this an essential song when you want to score high at karaoke.

Just be careful not to fall behind the rhythm and beat, or rush the singing.

YoursMasaki Suda

Masaki Suda’s fifth overall digital-only single, released in July 2023.

Set over a simply arranged ballad, it lets you fully enjoy Suda’s unadorned, heartfelt vocals.

The vocal melody is very straightforward and easy to sing, so definitely try singing it and aim for a high score! Mastering the falsetto (head voice) used in the high notes will be the key to scoring well, so make sure to study that part carefully before you take on the challenge!

LemonKenshi Yonezu

Kenshi Yonezu’s eighth single overall, released in March 2018.

Not limited to this song, many of Yonezu’s tracks are great picks when you want to aim for a high karaoke score.

His own singing is relatively straightforward and unadorned, without strong quirks, so as long as you pay attention to how you use falsetto and how you switch between falsetto and chest voice, it should be easy for just about anyone to sing.

If the high notes are tough or you’re not confident with falsetto, try lowering the key by two or three semitones.

Among the Sakamichi groups, Keyakizaka46 is especially known for their stylish musicality.

While the group has many difficult songs, there are some that are easy to sing.

One I particularly recommend is “I Can’t Learn to Love Myself.” The melody is very catchy, and the vocal line doesn’t involve complex ups and downs in pitch.

The vocal range is fairly standard, so it doesn’t depend on the singer’s voice type, making it a song with strong potential for high scores.

Be sure to check it out.

If I could become a constellationcable tie

[Lyric Video] Kessoku Band “If We Could Become Constellations” / In-episode song from TV anime “Bocchi the Rock!” Episode 12
If we could become a constellation, we’d be Kessoku Band.

Kessoku Band’s most famous song, “If We Could Become a Constellation.” The melody isn’t difficult and the rhythm is calm, so many of my vocal training students chose to sing it.

Actually, JOYSOUND staff are doing something called the “95-Point Challenge” with this song, so with practice you might be able to boost your score quite a bit! The overall vocal range is G3–C#5.

The chorus hits C5 repeatedly, so some people might feel it’s “high,” but the melody has momentum, so if you focus on accents, you’ll be fine! First, listen carefully to identify which parts are the high notes.

Take the spots where you think, “Maybe here?” and turn them into accents by riding the rhythm with some drive.

The key point is to project your voice forward! Start with sectional practice so you can produce sound comfortably, and do your best!
