Karaoke songs that are easy for middle school students to score high on
The number-one concern middle schoolers have in music is voice change.
While girls might not feel it as much, it’s a period when the vocal cords change significantly for both boys and girls, making it arguably the most difficult time to sing in your entire life.
For middle schoolers going through this, just controlling pitch can be challenging.
On top of that, recent Japanese pop songs often feature many high notes and few rests, which makes it even harder to aim for high scores.
So this time, we’ve selected songs that even middle school students with unstable voices can use to aim for high scores.
We also carefully considered how well the songs will be received, so be sure to check them out to the end.

Karaoke songs that are easy for middle schoolers to score high on (71–80)
Cute Yuna-chanUltra☆Social Sandals

This is a breezy, fast-paced song, but if you listen closely, the lyrics are actually quite biting.
The classmate who was cute since childhood looked different when I saw them again after a long time, but they were still cute.
You can feel that familiar mix of self-impatience and jealousy toward others that often comes with youth.
The melody lines are on the shorter side, and the riffs fill the gaps between them, so it’s nice that you can catch your breath during the riffs and then take on the next melody.
It would be great if you could pay attention to pitch and also put your emotions into it.
Beautiful worldAimer

Singer-songwriter Aimer, known for her distinctive vocal style, has won widespread popularity.
In the Japanese music scene, isn’t she the queen of ballads? From her ballads, the song I especially recommend for middle schoolers is “Utsukushii Sekai” (“Beautiful World”).
It’s a classic J-pop ballad without complex melodic leaps, and the overall range is relatively narrow.
If you try to imitate Aimer’s vocal production, you might run out of breath, so try singing in your own natural style while focusing on keeping your pitch steady.
Jaa Baa JaaAKB48

This is a song released in March 2018 by AKB48, a nationally beloved idol group popular as a lively, crowd-pleasing karaoke choice.
Since it was created with group singing in mind, it’s easy to sing at karaoke without strain and makes it easier to aim for a high score.
There aren’t any sudden jumps in the melody, so if you focus on clear projection and accurate pitch at the beginning and end of phrases and sing with energy, it will be very effective!
Agari Sagari feat. R-Shitei & CHEHONSPICY CHOCOLATE

Middle schoolers, if you’re looking for a go-to song to win at karaoke, I recommend “Agari Sagari feat.
R-Shitei & CHEHON” by SPICY CHOCOLATE as a high-scoring pick.
CHEHON’s verse is super cool yet approachable, so even those who aren’t confident singers should be able to handle it.
R-Shitei’s verse is also relatively easy compared to his other tracks, so give it a try.
For this song, it’s more important to focus on rhythm than pitch, so center your practice on rhythm work.
You and SummerKEYTALK

KEYTALK is a rock band known for music and visuals that strongly appeal to young people.
Each member has such a glamorous presence that many middle schoolers might even mistake them for popular YouTubers.
Among KEYTALK’s songs, Kimi to Summer is particularly easy to score high with at karaoke.
While the instrumentation has a rock vibe, the vocal line is accessible pop, with few high notes, making it easier for anyone to aim for a high score.
Rain MaidenRaon

Raon is a YouTuber and lyricist from South Korea.
She sings Japanese songs so well that it’s hard to believe she’s from another country.
The reason, it seems, is that she watched Japanese anime from a young age.
This song, which has a slightly eerie image and tells of a rain maiden betrayed by her lover, features lots of melodic repetition, making it easy to learn.
To score high, it’s important to lock into the rhythm precisely.
Apocalypse Now feat. Hatsune MikuPinocchioP

This song was made by PinocchioP, a Vocaloid producer active since 2009.
“Apocalypse” is a word from the Bible that signifies the end of the world.
The mismatch between that theme and this unfittingly bright track is fascinating.
Since it’s a Vocaloid song, the rhythm and pitch are—of course—spot on.
While listening to the perfect model, I think singing it with a slightly square, straight feel will fit the track better.
Practice until the lyrics lock perfectly into the rhythm.
You might discover a new frontier.
