Karaoke songs that are easy for middle school students to score high on
The number-one concern middle schoolers have in music is voice change.
While girls might not feel it as much, it’s a period when the vocal cords change significantly for both boys and girls, making it arguably the most difficult time to sing in your entire life.
For middle schoolers going through this, just controlling pitch can be challenging.
On top of that, recent Japanese pop songs often feature many high notes and few rests, which makes it even harder to aim for high scores.
So this time, we’ve selected songs that even middle school students with unstable voices can use to aim for high scores.
We also carefully considered how well the songs will be received, so be sure to check them out to the end.

Karaoke Songs That Make It Easy for Junior High School Students to Score High (21–30)
sceneHatsuboshi Academy Hiro Shinozawa

This is a song where the pauses are very important, and you should sing each phrase carefully, almost as if savoring it.
One of my students who’s really into First Star Academy loves this character and practiced a lot.
The key is not to rush—sing each word of the lyrics with intention.
When you sing, using a head-voice base brings out the right vibe.
The pitch right before the last chorus is slightly low, so be careful not to let your pitch drop.
Since the song is generally head-voice based, keeping that mindset and sending a steady stream of air forward will make the low notes easier to produce.
Rather than changing your singing style, focus on engaging the vocal folds and using your breath well.
For those not used to singing, the relaxed melody makes it easier to practice because you can take slower breaths!
soliloquyHachiwara (a cat with a split two-tone face pattern)

Chiikawa is a popular anime loved by a wide range of people, from elementary school children to adults.
The song “Hitorigotsu” is sung by Hachiware, a character in the series.
Given the time slot it airs in, most elementary schoolers have probably heard it at least once.
The piece is characterized by a very simple vocal line.
The pitch movement is very gentle and the range is quite narrow, so even upper-grade students whose voices may be unstable due to voice change can sing it without any problem.
Bunny GirlAKASAKI

The hit number “Bunny Girl,” a hot topic that any junior high schooler would know, is a song by the young singer-songwriter AKASAKI.
It’s so popular nationwide that there’s hardly a day you don’t hear it on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube Shorts.
Although its light, catchy melody stands out, the song actually boasts one of the narrowest vocal ranges in Japanese pop.
Its range is so limited that even middle schoolers going through voice changes can sing it, so it’s well worth adding to your repertoire.
Single‑minded Cinderella!CUTIE STREET

CUTIR STREET is an idol group that has been rapidly rising to prominence lately.
Their new song, ‘Single-minded Cinderella!’, is currently attracting a lot of attention in certain circles.
While the track is packaged with a melody that feels like a classic idol song, it actually has a fairly narrow vocal range compared to its brightness.
Plus, there aren’t any prominent long notes, so as long as you stay on pitch, anyone can aim for a high score with this song.
Junior high school girls, definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.
Bitter VacationMrs. GREEN APPLE

Mrs.
GREEN APPLE’s new song “Bitter Vacation.” Their songs usually feature lots of high notes and tend to be very difficult, but this one is different.
For a Mrs.
GREEN APPLE track, it has a narrower vocal range and doesn’t involve complex pitch changes.
That said, it’s not a low-range song either, so most middle school boys and girls should be able to sing it without trouble.
By the way, it’s only “easy” by Mrs.
GREEN APPLE standards, so if you’re aiming for a high score, you’ll still need a fair amount of practice.
A Little Love SongMONGOL800

The classic song “Chiisana Koi no Uta” is still loved by many people today.
Although it’s an older track released in 2001, it’s a curious song that continues to be highly popular among younger generations.
I think many current junior high school students also know this song.
The opening part sits very low in the register, so many people may feel it’s difficult.
However, that low delivery is primarily a vocal choice to make it sound good; if you’re aiming for a high score in karaoke, songs like this one with lots of low notes can actually be easier to sing.
Find the key that suits you and give it a try.
DoraemonGen Hoshino

This is the Hoshino Gen version of the Doraemon theme song.
Above all, what stands out about Hoshino Gen’s music is its distinctive rhythm—unusual in J-pop—shaped by influences from Black music.
That said, there’s no need to overthink it: if you listen closely to the backing track and keep a solid sense of rhythm while singing, you should be fine.
The key is low, which is a nice point that makes it easier for men to sing.
