Karaoke songs recommended for men with low voices or who are good at singing in a low register

In recent years, Japan’s music scene has seen an increase in songs with lots of high notes, influenced by K-pop.

As a result, it’s become harder for men with lower voices to find songs that suit them.

So! We’ve selected recommended tracks specifically for men with deep voices.

We also considered how well these songs go over at karaoke, so if you’re planning to go with a group soon, be sure to check them out.

Recommended karaoke songs for men with low voices and those good at singing in a low register (91–100)

Farewell, tearsKetsumeishi

Released in March 2016, this is Ketsumeishi’s 28th single.

As you’d expect from a Ketsumeishi track with its appealing slightly husky vocals, it’s an ideal song for lower-voiced men to sing at karaoke.

The song follows a classic J-pop single structure, with a catchy chorus melody and lyrics that repeatedly include the title—making it an easy pick for a casual karaoke number.

The key to nailing this song is, above all, how coolly you can deliver the rap-style sections.

First, memorize the lyrics well, then try singing while paying attention to phrase breaks and rests.

One Night CarnivalKishidan

This is one of Kishidan’s signature songs, known for its slightly nostalgic sound and distinctive choreography.

It was their major-label debut single, released in 2001.

It’s a karaoke staple that gets the crowd going, sung not only by men but also by women and children.

Recommended karaoke songs for men with low voices or a strong lower register (101–110)

La Palummellakururi

Quruli/Daniele Sepe – La Palummella
La Palummella Kururi

Quruli is a band with a downbeat musical style that has long been supported by hardcore music aficionados.

Even now, they keep releasing songs without changing their style.

Among their works, the one I especially recommend is La Palummella.

It’s not a track that particularly emphasizes low frequencies, but because the overall range is narrow, you can make the low tones sound compelling as long as you match the key properly.

The pitch movement is gentle as well, so consider adding it to your repertoire.

A New JourneyYONA YONA WEEKENDERS

A New Journey YONA YONA WEEKENDERS

A gem from YONA YONA WEEKENDERS, featuring a pleasantly bass-rich, groove-filled sound that captures the moody nighttime atmosphere of Shibuya.

From Isono-kun’s husky vocals, you can feel a gentle courage to set out on the journey of life.

The vocal range is D3–A#4, overall on the lower side.

There’s a brief use of falsetto in the C section; opting for falsetto there without hesitation will keep the balance and deliver a cool finish.

Loop & LoopASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION

ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION “Loop & Loop”
Loop & Loop ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION

Not just this song, but their songs in general aren’t in very high keys, so they seem relatively easy to sing.

There’s also a song called “Rewrite,” but since the chorus goes relatively high, I chose this song instead.

It’s a cool, medium-tempo track, so it feels like it would be really satisfying to sing.

compromiseGen Hoshino

Gen Hoshino – Compromise (Official Video)
Ori-ai Hoshino Gen

A digital-only single by Gen Hoshino, released in June 2020.

Unlike many recent songs, it’s rare in that it doesn’t shift to a high-pitched melody even in the chorus, letting you fully enjoy Hoshino’s rich low voice.

In particular, around 1:50 there’s a rap part(?) where he delivers a low-voiced rap that could honestly be called the very definition of an “ikébo” (a cool, attractive voice).

This section seems like the perfect “showcase” part for men who are good at low notes to sing at karaoke.

SAY KOU SHOWRobert Akiyama

Robert Akiyama “SAY KOU SHOW” (official music video & making-of), directed by Hiroshi Shinagawa
SAY KOU SHOW Robert Akiyama

In addition to his work as a comedian, Akiyama from Robert showcases his musical talent through comic songs.

He already has a few hit tunes like “TOKAKUKA,” but lately it’s “SAY KOU SHOW” that’s been especially popular.

This piece boldly and unabashedly puts risqué humor front and center, and while it’s groovy, it features a deliberately monotonous vocal line.

The range isn’t high and is quite narrow, so it might be fun to memorize it as a bit for laughs.
