Karaoke songs recommended for men with low voices or who are good at singing in a low register

In recent years, Japan’s music scene has seen an increase in songs with lots of high notes, influenced by K-pop.

As a result, it’s become harder for men with lower voices to find songs that suit them.

So! We’ve selected recommended tracks specifically for men with deep voices.

We also considered how well these songs go over at karaoke, so if you’re planning to go with a group soon, be sure to check them out.

Karaoke songs recommended for men with deep voices or strong low ranges (41–50)

budKobukuro

Kobukuro’s “Tsubomi” is also quite a masterpiece, so it’s a song I’d love for you to sing whether solo or as a duo.

Since Kobukuro are a duo, the vocal range is fairly wide at A#2–A#4, and Kuroda’s part is quite low, so if you’re singing with two people, taking Kuroda’s part might be a good idea! By the way, when I sang this song I had a male partner; I left all the main melody to him and stuck to the harmony! The harmonies in this song are beautiful, so if you have a partner, definitely try tackling the harmonies too! Overall, try singing it with a calm vibe so it doesn’t become too forceful.

BUMP OF CHICKEN’s songs are generally easy to sing because the vocalist/guitarist Motoo Fujiwara’s key is on the lower side.

However, for this particular song, the A and B sections are said to be difficult for people with higher voices, so it seems to be an easy song to sing for men with lower voices.

I think it’s rare for men with low voices to sing songs originally by female artists.

Still, some people might occasionally want to sing tracks performed by female vocalists.

In that case, I recommend “RISE TOGETHER feat.

OZworld.” It’s a collaboration between the female singer AI and the rapper OZworld.

AI has an unusually rich, low voice for a woman, so I believe this song is very easy to sing even for men with low voices.

OverdoseNatori

This is singer-songwriter Natori’s first digital single, released in September 2022.

In May 2021, Natori began posting videos of original songs on TikTok.

By May 2022, over 30 short versions of songs had been uploaded.

The track we’re introducing here, “Overdose,” was first posted in May 2022 and, due to its strong response, was released as a full-length, digital-only single that September.

It’s an excellent piece whose mechanical, square beat in the backing track merges with Natori’s slightly languid vocals to create a unique allure.

I think it’s also very singable for lower-voiced male singers.

Rather than obsessing over range or pitch, the most important thing when performing this song is how well you can recreate the original’s laid-back, languid vibe.

So study the original carefully and give it a try.

For the vocal approach, you might get a good result by aiming for a chest voice—resonating in the chest cavity and letting the sound sit low in the mouth with the lower jaw engaged.

Give that a try as well.

horizonback number

This is back number’s fourth digital single, released in August 2021.

It’s a beautiful medium-to-slow tempo song with a gently heartwarming mood.

The subtle string arrangements used in the chorus and elsewhere are also really pleasant to listen to.

Although back number’s vocalist Iyori Shimizu isn’t particularly known for a deep, bass-heavy voice, the vocal range used in this melody should be easy for most men to sing.

There are sections where you switch into falsetto, so in that sense it’s a slightly more advanced pick, but I definitely encourage you to give it a try.

If you’re not confident with falsetto, tighten your abs around your navel and imagine lifting your solar plexus with those muscles, then try hooting like an owl—“hoo, hoo.” The trick to making the sound ring beautifully is to place the voice so it resonates from the mouth toward the nose.

Give it a try!

DRESSING ROOMNatori

Natori, a male singer who’s gained popularity for his downer-style vocals.

Despite having a voice that still carries a hint of youthfulness, his standout feature is his prominent low register.

This track, “DRESSING ROOM,” is a piece that really makes the most of Natori’s lower tones.

Because the song as a whole stays within a narrow and low vocal range, even teenage boys whose voices are unstable due to voice change can sing it without trouble.

It’s a stylish tune that tends to go over well with women too, so consider adding it to your repertoire.

Yuma, who is active as the “good singer” of the YouTuber group Comdot, has a track called Jingle that my students often sang when their throats weren’t in great shape because it’s “easy to sing,” so I think it’s in a range that’s easy for others too.

Jingle’s vocal range is B2 to D#4, staying mostly in the low to mid range.

Of course, it builds from verse A to verse B to the chorus, but unlike other songs, the range doesn’t change much, so it might be easier to keep pitch.

It’s a perfect song for winter, so start practicing it now!
