powder snowRemioromen

Remioromen – Powder Snow (Music Video Short ver.)
Powder Snow Remioromen

This is Remioromen’s 7th single, released in November 2005.

Because it’s a mid-tempo song with a very simple melody, it should be relatively easy to sing even for people who don’t usually have many opportunities to sing.

The chorus melody may be tough in the original key for those who struggle with high notes, so please pay close attention to your key settings.

Also, in the A-melody and other so-called “flat” parts, the singer’s original style has a bit of a unique twist, but it’s better to sing those sections simply and smoothly.

Be careful not to turn it into an imitation.

Love SomebodyYuji Oda

Bayside Shakedown: Love Somebody (CINEMA Version IV)
Love Somebody Yuji Oda

This is the theme song that regularly plays in the Bayside Shakedown (Odoru Daisousasen) film series.

A famous film critic once praised it as “the first Japanese film whose sequel surpassed the excellent original.” With a walking-tempo feel, it’s easy to sing, and anyone who watched the films can hum along as they recall the scenes.

cherry blossomNaotaro Moriyama

Naotaro Moriyama – Sakura (Solo)
Sakura Moriyama Naotaro

Naotaro Moriyama’s second single, released in March 2003.

With its simple arrangement of just piano and vocals—and even some sections sung solo—many people who aren’t confident singers may feel the bar is high.

The chorus’s high notes also require skillful use of falsetto and mixed voice, so if you aim to sing it properly, it does demand a certain level of vocal technique.

That said, the vocal melody itself is very easy to remember and goes down smoothly, so try finding a comfortable key and give it a shot.

You might be surprised at how smoothly it comes out once you try.

Let's become a familyMasaharu Fukuyama

Masaharu Fukuyama – Let’s Become a Family (Full ver.)
Let's become a family - Masaharu Fukuyama

Masaharu Fukuyama, one of Japan’s top singers and a leading artist from Amuse, is famous for delivering lyrics that capture women’s feelings with a masculine yet somehow sweet, low voice.

As its title suggests, “Kazoku ni Narou yo” (Let’s Become a Family) is a proposal song.

With sweet lyrics that imagine the couple’s future set to a melodious tune, it’s the perfect choice to sing at karaoke for couples on the verge of getting married.

I want to become the wind.THE BOOM

THE BOOM / I Want to Become the Wind
I Want to Be the Wind THE BOOM

It’s THE BOOM’s 16th single, released in March 1995.

Just like the title suggests, it’s a light, breezy song that feels like a refreshing tropical wind blowing through.

The melody is very catchy and easy to remember, and it’s also very easy to sing at karaoke, making it a great choice even for people who aren’t confident singers.

The rhythm has a slightly bouncy samba feel, so be careful not to drag in that part when you sing.

The key should be manageable for many people to sing in the original key, too!

gradationSUPER BEAVER

SUPER BEAVER “Gradation” [Lyric Video] (Theme song for the film ‘Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween Arc -Fate-’)
Gradient SUPER BEAVER

This is SUPER BEAVER’s 17th single, released in April 2023.

It was chosen as the theme song for the film Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween -Fate-.

It’s an up-tempo, straightforward rock track, but the grand string arrangements heard throughout are very striking.

The vocal melody itself is quite simple, and there don’t seem to be any particularly difficult parts to sing.

However, the chorus modulates, so be careful not to get thrown off when singing it at karaoke.

If the high notes in the chorus are tough, try lowering the key on the karaoke machine.

SakurazakaMasaharu Fukuyama

Masaharu Fukuyama – Sakurazaka (Full ver.)
Masaharu Fukuyama - Sakurazaka

It’s Masaharu Fukuyama’s 15th single, released in April 2000.

The lyrics and music were written by Fukuyama himself.

He always treats us to a wonderfully rich and beautiful singing voice, but in terms of vocal range, this song stays within a range that most men can sing without strain, so even those who find it hard to project their voice or aren’t confident singers should find it relatively approachable.

Sakura-zaka also has a slow tempo, making it even easier to sing.

One point to watch out for is the slightly higher notes in the chorus—if you can smoothly switch between falsetto and chest voice there, it will sound even better.
