Even karaoke beginners can relax! Easy-to-sing songs for men

At karaoke with friends, there are probably many men who feel, “I’m actually not good at singing and I get nervous…” right? No one wants to go off pitch or miss the high notes and feel embarrassed.

The truth is, there are plenty of songs that anyone can sing comfortably, as well as classic tracks that get the whole room excited! This time, we’re introducing J-POP karaoke songs that even those who aren’t confident in their singing can perform with peace of mind.

We’ve selected many songs with simple melodies and rhythms that are easy to remember, so please use this as a reference!

Even karaoke beginners can relax! Songs that are easy for men to sing (21–30)

cherrySpitz

Spitz’s 13th single, released in April 1996.

As a song from the golden age of J-pop—when trends in the karaoke market were just as crucial as CD sales—it’s easy to sing, easy to remember, and poppy, covering all the elements that made a hit at the time.

Because of that, I think it’s also very approachable for people who aren’t confident singers.

When you sing it, just be careful about the key setting.

If you let your guard down, there’s a real risk of your voice cracking on the high notes!

cherry blossomKobukuro

Kobukuro’s 12th single, released in November 2005.

It won the Gold Prize (now the Excellence Award) at the 47th Japan Record Awards, and from March 18, 2007 to March 1, 2010, it was used as the arrival chime at JR Nishi-Nihon’s Tokaido Main Line (JR Kobe Line) Sakura Shukugawa Station.

It has also been included in high school Japanese language textbooks.

Since it was later used as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “Ns’ Aoi,” many of you may have heard it.

Compared to hit songs from the Showa era, its melodic development has a somewhat ‘modern complexity,’ yet it’s a track whose striking and catchy chorus really sticks in your ears.

Choose a key that lets you sing with as much brightness and resonance as you can without straining, and give it a try.

SAY KOU SHOWRobert Akiyama

SAY KOU SHOW Robert Akiyama

Robert Akiyama, a multi-talented artist who even writes and composes his own songs, created a provocative piece in many senses with “SAY KOU SHOW.” The title is a pun on the Japanese word for “sexual intercourse,” and the song’s amusing structure has Akiyama posing somewhat awkward questions to his fellow Robert member, Yamamoto, in the same dorm.

The music video directed by Hiroshi Shinagawa also drew a lot of attention.

The melody is actually easy to remember, making it a great gag song to liven up karaoke, but be sure to enjoy it with care—and avoid singing it in front of people who aren’t into this kind of humor!

WISHstorm

WISH – Arashi (cover)
WISH Arashi

This is the 15th single by the male idol group Arashi, released in November 2005.

It was used as the theme song for the TBS drama “Boys Over Flowers,” starring group member Jun Matsumoto.

With a lightly bouncing beat and an easy-to-like melody, it’s a tune that even people who aren’t confident singers can probably manage fairly easily.

The original key might be a bit high, so be careful with your key settings.

DISH// – Rice [Official Video]
Rice NEW! DISH//

The four-member rock band DISH//.

While they’re a band, they also have idol-like popularity and enjoy tremendous support from women.

Among DISH//’s songs, the one I especially recommend to men in their 30s is Gohan.

DISH// tend to have many glittery, female-friendly tracks, but this one is crafted with a slightly grittier, earthier melody.

Kitamura Takumi’s vocals may make that less obvious, but if you’re a man in your 30s, wouldn’t you be able to bring out that grittiness even more?

TemptationGLAY

It’s one of GLAY’s signature songs, starting with a distinctive 7-beat intro.

Even people who don’t usually listen to visual kei might know this track, right? Since many people are familiar with it, it’s also great for getting everyone involved and singing along!

At all times.Noriyuki Makihara

[Official] Noriyuki Makihara “No Matter What” (Music Video) [3rd Single] (1991) Noriyuki Makihara/donnatokimo [No. 1]
Always, by Noriyuki Makihara

Even if other people have lots to say about it, I want to proudly declare that what I like is what I like.

That might cause some people to drift away.

But even with that risk, this is a song about the strength to stay true to yourself.

It’s a classic that, if you sing it at karaoke, someone is sure to hum along.
