Starting with Hatsune Miku, the number of characters (voice libraries) for Vocaloid and CeVIO has grown, and users now have more and more options.

Even Sachiko Kobayashi—famed for her iconic red-and-white performances and often dubbed the “final boss”—has debuted as a library with Vocaloid Sachiko, leading to a reversal of the previous trend: instead of importing Vocaloid songs for singers to cover, the singers’ own voices are turned into voice libraries that sing.

This time, I’d like to focus on Vocaloid and CeVIO characters born from the voices of such renowned singers.

Will a legendary singer who has passed away become a library?

For VocaloidUeki LloydThere exists a voice library of Hitoshi Ueki.

This was produced based on the voice of Koichi Hiro, the son of the late Hitoshi Ueki.

Although it isn’t for sale and cannot be obtained, the idea of hearing that person’s voice singing a famous song once more may be one of the major goals that the world of speech synthesis aims to achieve.

And the one who made it a reality was Haruoloid Minami.

Haruo MinamiSpeaking of Mr./Ms. ...Hello from countries around the worldHe is a legendary singer who performed numerous classic hits.

Even if you’re not from that era, you’ve probably at least heard the name.

Haruo Minami was a singer who represented his era, having performed over 1,000 songs by the time he passed away in 2001.

It’s possible to do something like bringing back a person’s voice.

I think this is wonderful both technically and musically.

Amazing talent: Haruoloid Minami is being distributed for free!

An official audio source of Haruoloid actually singing has been released.

I was simply astonished.

The solid core to his voice and the beautiful vibrato definitely evoke Haruo Minami’s style.

Even if it can’t be easily reproduced, if you think you can make it sing a song like this, wouldn’t any music lover want to give it a try?

This Haruoloid is positioned as a promoter for Haruo Minami and is distributed free of charge.

Anyone who has CeVIO Creative Studio can use it simply by downloading it.

For those who don’t own CeVIO, a trial version that allows one month of use is available, so why not take this opportunity to give it a try?

Technical Vocaloid, intuitive CeVIO

Compared to Vocaloid, CeVIO’s interface has fewer parameters and a simpler screen layout.

Explaining the differences between the two in detail here would take too long, so I’ll share an article that compares and examines them.

Which is the superior virtual singer, CeVIO or Vocaloid? | Rainbow Sound Cafe

I think CeVIO, which is easy to use yet highly expressive, is an intriguing technology alongside Vocaloid.

We actually had them sing it.

I can’t help but feel a bit formal knowing the data being used is Mr. Haruo Minami, but I went ahead and had it sing right away.

Wonderful vibrato already at the point when the melody data is loaded. You expressed it, but I tweaked the timing and such to make it closer to Shinichi Mori’s singing style.

As expected of a male vocal library,A firm, grounded voice with core/convictionwill give me/produce/issue (it)

I think Haruoloid has overcome the lack of presence that people often point out with other voice libraries.

And you can feel that the more care you put into it, the better it will sing.

Above all, it’s most important that using it and making it are enjoyable.

In that sense, I’d really like people who are thinking of trying a virtual vocalist for the first time to give it a go.

Pay attention to the future of the voice library

I believe libraries based on the singing voices of major singers—like Haruoloid Minami and Vocaloid Sachiko—will continue to be released in the future.

It might even become possible to make the dream of “I want to hear that song in that singer’s voice!” come true.

Please take a look into the world of Vocaloid and CeVIO, where a new trend is beginning to emerge.
