Let's try using VOCALOID5

VOCALOID 5, released in July 2018.

What can VOCALOID 5 do!?

I’d like to introduce it here.

VOCALOID 5

The Vocaloid that had gone into maintenance in the early hours of July 12, 2018.

com resumed at 11:00 a.m., and sales of the VOCALOID 5 package have begun.

There are two types of packages available for sale.

Two each of English libraries and Japanese libraries,A total of four librariesbundledVOCALOID 5 STANDARD。

In the STANDARD library: CYVER DIVA II, CYBER SONGMAN II, VY1, and VY2Bundle four additional librariesdoing; in the process of; is/are/am doing (progressive or continuous form)VOCALOID 5 PREMIUM。

Since it comes with a library from the start, you won’t run into the issue from the previous version where you’d say, “I bought the editor but can’t make it sing!”

There is also a special offer for users who own either VOCALOID 3 or VOCALOID 4, allowing them to receive a substantial discount.

Reborn VOCALOID

Up through VOCALOID 4, the editor features were somewhat limited, so it felt like integrating with Cubase’s editor or using external tools like Piapro Studio offered more functionality than the standard editor. However, with VOCALOID 5,The interface has been completely revamped, making editing work smoother.

There were also major changes to the synthesis engine itself, such as the addition of parameters and the discontinuation of Cross-Synthesis (XSY), which had been introduced in VOCALOID 4.

The flexibility of a single library has also improved significantly, and by assigning styles to voice library selections, you can greatly change the characteristics of the singing.

It’s similar to the singer presets up to VOCALOID 4, but in VOCALOID 5 it alters the library’s singing more naturally and more effectively.

VOCALOID5 (Vocaloid 5)

Since styles can be saved as a set of parameters and a vocal effects chain, I think it’s become easier to tailor the results to the expression you’re aiming for.

Make articulation simple

One of the major feature additions is,An attack and release effect that can assign articulations to individual notesIt is.VOCALOID5 fx

Clicking the Attack & Release button opens the effects panel at the bottom of the screen.

VOCALOID5 (Vocaloid 5)

When you select a note and then choose the desired articulation from the panel below, the singing for that section will change to the specified expression.

Expressions that until now required aggressively manipulating multiple pitch bends and parameters,A powerful feature that lets you approximate with a single buttonIt is.

It seems that effects like velocity have been improved to sound more natural, and just making slight adjustments with velocity and setting the attack and release now yields noticeably smoother singing than in VOCALOID 4; the vocal performance has improved that much.

I think it’s now possible to work as easily and smoothly as achieving CeVIO’s natural singing.

The V4 library evolves

As of now, the only library exclusive to VOCALOID 5 is Saki no Sora, which AHS plans to release.

Of course you can use VOCALOID 4 libraries as well, but I wondered, “If it’s not a dedicated library, won’t it be unable to reach its full potential?”

However, such worries were unnecessary.

ratherVOCALOID 5 was so good that it produced better results with simple, unedited input than VOCALOID 4 did.

I happened to have the karaoke track on hand, so I had them sing it right away.

I tried having Kaori and IA sing with VOCALOID 5

First, it's Kaori from the VOCALOID 5 bundled library.

Next is the VOCALOID 5 library, IA.

I had Kaori, the V5-compatible library included with VOCALOID 5 by default, and IA from V4 sing the same song.

I tried to make the voice quality similar by adjusting STYLE, but from here it seems we need to adjust the formants with effects rather than parameters.

The adjustments I made were to the velocity, the attack and release effects, and the Exciter parameters that control vocal presence, applied across the entire range.

It was my first time using it, so I tried various things as I went, but I was still able to make adjustments smoothly.

In VOCALOID 5,It really feels like the term VOCALOID has finally evolved into “vocal synth.”

If it has overcome the aspects where it previously lagged behind CeVIO in ease of operation and output quality, then its strength of having a wide range of libraries to choose from is likely to come into play.

Even those who gave up because editing traditional VOCALOID was difficult might be able to make it sing exactly as they want with VOCALOID 5.

The greatly evolved VOCALOID 5.

Keep an eye on future developments!
