If You Can Sing These, You’re Amazing! Cool Karaoke Songs for Women (71–80)

WithLila Ikuta

A female singer who is also active as a member of the music duo YOASOBI, Lila Ikuta released this digital-only single in October 2023.

It was produced as an inspiration song for the film ‘Analog.

‘ It’s a very beautiful ballad, and within this lovely track, Lila Ikuta showcases stunning high notes, starting with her crystal-clear falsetto.

This is definitely one of the best choices for women who are good at singing high notes to select for karaoke.

Pay attention to switching among chest voice, mixed voice, and falsetto—using a variety of high-tone techniques as you sing.

Memorial Day, Chanmina

This is the 17th digital-only single by female rapper Chanmina, released in August 2023.

It was selected as the theme song for TV Asahi’s Thursday drama “Hayabusa Fire Brigade.” As you’d expect from a rapper, I felt Chanmina’s sense of rhythm in the song—the way she feels the beat, her timing between phrases, and her phrasing overall—was exquisite.

If you can recreate this along with her soft yet powerful, bass-rich vocals in karaoke, you’re sure to earn praise from those around you! Make sure to really feel the rhythm of the backing track, and even in the softly sung opening section, try not to lose vocal strength.

Paying attention to how you handle the ends of each phrase will help you sing it even more stylishly!

Idol YOASOBI

It’s YOASOBI’s 19th digital-only single, released in April 2023.

It was chosen as the opening theme for the TV anime “Oshi no Ko,” and the manga’s original author, Aka Akasaka, reportedly wrote a piece specifically for YOASOBI.

Ayase, YOASOBI’s composer, is also well-known as a Vocaloid producer, and that background really shines through in this track—the construction of the vocal melodies and the vocal processing contain many elements typical of Vocaloid songs.

Singing this live at karaoke as a flesh-and-blood human is quite challenging, I think, but if you study the song thoroughly, definitely give it a try.

Rather than sticking too rigidly to the original’s mechanical feel, it might be interesting to sing it in a more human way.

That said, with this melody, that may be easier said than done…

Misa Shimizu is a female singer-songwriter renowned for her powerful vocals.

Half Filipino and half Japanese, she grew up listening primarily to Western R&B from a young age.

Her songs showcase a soulful voice influenced by Black music.

Among her works, the one I especially recommend is “Style.” Not only is the whistle register showcased in the intro and interlude extremely challenging, but the frequent ad-libs throughout also boast a high level of difficulty.

FarewellSuperfly

FarewellSuperfly

A digital-download single by Superfly, released in December 2022.

Incidentally, this song was written as the theme for the film Ichikei no Karasu, which opened on January 13, 2023.

It’s a gently arranged ballad with a beautiful melody, and vocalist Shiho Ochi delivers it dynamically and dramatically with her outstanding vocal prowess.

The most important elements when singing this song are open, unstrained projection that doesn’t constrict the throat, and clear control of dynamics—from the quiet parts to the powerful ones.

If you master these and perform it at karaoke, you’ll surely be the object of everyone’s admiration! Also, be careful not to rush the rhythm; don’t forget to give it space and sing with a deliberate sense of timing so the song’s appeal isn’t lost.

Aina The End, who drew attention as the lead vocalist of BiSH.

Since going solo and working as a singer, she’s been turning out a string of great songs, wielding her husky voice as a weapon.

Among her tracks, the one I especially recommend is “Red:birthmark.” It’s a work that brings her poignant, husky voice to the forefront.

That said, it’s not just about singing huskily—there are quite a few high notes as well, so a wide vocal range is required.

JUMPLila Ikuta

This is the seventh digital-only solo single by Lila Ikuta, also known as ikura from YOASOBI, released in November 2022.

It’s a song with a lively medium-to-up-tempo feel, and the vocal melody is crafted to be very pop and catchy.

So if you’re just casually humming along, it’s not particularly difficult to sing.

However, if you listen closely to the original, you’ll notice that Lila Ikuta expresses this pop melody exceptionally well by skillfully switching between chest voice and falsetto, while consistently resonating very effective higher overtones.

It’s surely her one-of-a-kind vocal delivery that makes this song special.

Be sure to listen closely to the original, study the use of different vocal placements and even the rests between phrases, and try singing it that way.

You’re sure to catch people’s attention.
