Gentle CometYOASOBI

This is YOASOBI’s eighth digital single, released on January 20, 2021.
It was used as the ending theme for Season 2 of the Fuji TV anime BEASTARS.
As you’d expect from a unit led by Vocaloid producer Ayase, many of YOASOBI’s songs are tough to sing live at karaoke while preserving the original vibe, and this track is no exception.
It features a melody that moves intricately up and down, along with a vocal track that’s likely intentionally rendered with a somewhat mechanical, impersonal quality.
Pulling this off perfectly in a live karaoke performance is quite a challenge, but if you’re confident in your singing—especially your pitch accuracy—I encourage you to give it a try.
It could also be fun to ignore the original mood entirely and sing it in a very human, expressive way!
Server Downmurasaki ima

Shikon, a female singer-songwriter who gained nationwide popularity with “Masho no Onna A,” may give many people the impression—based on her debut—of producing Japanese-style songs.
However, her roots lie in Western music, and she excels overall at R&B-based tracks.
Among her works, the one I particularly recommend is “Server Down.” It’s a downbeat R&B number, but with sudden bursts into falsetto and frequent use of advanced vocal embellishments (runs/ad-libs), placing its level of difficulty among the highest in Japanese music.

DIGNITYAdo

This is Ado’s 19th digital-only single, released in September 2023.
It was chosen as the theme song for the film The Silent Service, which premiered in September 2023.
By the way, the songwriting was handled by B’z members Inaba and Matsumoto.
If you want to recreate this song in karaoke, the most important point is how well you can reproduce Ado’s own dynamic vocal style.
Even in the quieter sections, keep your voice steady and confident; and in the high notes like the chorus, be careful not to tighten your throat and produce a thin, constricted tone.
MY LIFELANA

LANA is an R&B singer who enjoys overwhelming support in the hip-hop scene.
It’s likely that many of today’s gals look up to her.
Among her tracks, the one I especially recommend is MY LIFE.
Its brisk beat may make it sound light and breezy, but the song features shouts throughout.
Naturally, it also showcases advanced techniques like vocal runs—an R&B hallmark—so its level of difficulty far surpasses that of typical Japanese pop songs.
Transform!Tachibana Ayaka

Ayaka Tachibana, known as the vocalist of the anisong band (K)NoW_NAME, is also active as a solo artist, characterized by a sharp, powerful musical style.
Among her works, the one I especially recommend is Henshin! This rock track features a decadent sound, with the mid-to-low range standing out throughout.
While the overall vocal range is about average, because most of the melody sits in the mid-to-low register, it’s particularly easy to sing for women with lower voices.
Given its gritty sound, I recommend intentionally singing it with less delicacy for the best effect.
Goodbye DeclarationChinozo

Chinozo’s 2020 release “Good-bye Declaration” is a dance track that’s popular on TikTok! Many well-known singers have uploaded their own “tried singing” covers, too.
This song is especially tricky when it comes to nailing the pitch and dynamics.
But once you get those down, it’s a super fun song to sing, so it’s one I definitely recommend for women who are confident with Vocaloid tracks.
To hit the pitches cleanly, it’s also important to find the vocal range that suits you.
Don’t feel tied to the original key—try changing it to the key that fits you best and give it a go!
Child of the devilHiguchi Ai

This is Ai Higuchi’s 10th single released exclusively for digital distribution, released in January 2022.
It was written as the ending theme for Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2.
The song fully showcases Higuchi’s captivating low register.
While it unfolds mainly around a verse section that makes the most of her lower range, it also demands vocal prowess for the falsetto high notes; if you can pull these off, you’ll create a genuine “Ah!!” moment of surprise.
The subtle sounds that escape each time the lips part draw listeners into the song’s emotional core, shaping its shifts in feeling and building its climactic rise.
