[Recommended] Short, easy-to-sing Japanese karaoke songs
I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.
What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.
So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!
Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.
Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!
Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

paprikaKenshi Yonezu

Kenshi Yonezu, who wrote and composed Paprika—the song that became a sensation with Foorin singing and dancing—has released a self-cover! You can really feel the drama in the melody he crafted within a short track of about three minutes and thirty seconds—truly impressive.
And instead of singing the much-talked-about Foorin version, choosing to sing it in the Kenshi Yonezu version gives it a familiar, resonant feel, which is great!
School HeavenFinger Five

It’s a famous song that has been covered by other artists as well.
I’m sure it’s quite well-known, and many people can sing it.
The lyrics are lovely and bring back memories of youth.
Another great point is that it’s perfect for getting everyone around you to sing along throughout the song.

dreamTHE BLUE HEARTS

This is a song that was used as the theme for the popular drama “Hito ni Yasashiku.” At just two and a half minutes long, and with The Blue Hearts’ tracks being popular at karaoke, it’s a great pick! It’s high-energy and easy to belt out, so even people who aren’t confident at karaoke will find it easy to sing and highly recommended.
Masu.RADWIMPS

This is a song by RADWIMPS, a rock band that has gained huge popularity, including for performing film theme songs.
It’s a track full of drive with characteristically RADWIMPS lyrics that leave an impression.
There are some fast-paced parts that can be hard to sing and some English lyrics as well, so be sure to practice!
I am a bear.Hikaru Utada

This is a song that was broadcast on NHK’s “Minna no Uta.” I’ve heard that this was the first time she wrote a children’s song.
It was inspired by a teddy bear, and it has a very gentle, cute atmosphere.
At about two and a half minutes long, with little melodic movement and an easy-to-follow rhythm, I think it’s a very singable song.
Active Three MinutesTokyo Incidents

It’s one of the signature songs by the hugely popular rock band Tokyo Jihen.
Ringo Sheena’s vocals are sultry and cool—truly a classic.
At their concerts, a three-minute countdown is displayed behind them, and the way the song ends precisely as it hits zero is absolutely spine-tingling.
It’s by no means an easy song to sing, but I encourage you to give it a try.
Gather round! Party people!Yabai T-Shirts Yasan

A highly recommended song for those who aren’t great at karaoke: “Atsumare! Party People” by Yabai T-Shirts Yasan.
It’s relatively short at about 3 minutes and 10 seconds, and it’s a very high-energy track—in fact, as long as you bring the energy, you can sing it (lol).
As one of Yabai T-Shirts Yasan’s signature and frequently heard songs, it’s perfect for a group sing-along and a big chorus, right? Even people who haven’t heard it before can jump in and sing along with the vibe, and it’s a number that really gets the crowd going.
