[Recommended] Short, easy-to-sing Japanese karaoke songs
I think there are quite a few people who aren’t good with karaoke, but sometimes you just can’t turn it down because of social obligations.
What’s more, there may be situations where, once you go, you can’t get away without singing at least one song.
So, I’m going to introduce some short songs that are easy to sing even for those who aren’t comfortable with karaoke!
Most of the songs I’m about to introduce are a little over three minutes long, but some are around two minutes.
Long songs can be tough for people who aren’t confident about singing, but you might be able to manage a short one!
Also, feel free to use this as a reference when choosing the final song as your room time is about to run out.

elevated lineELLEGARDEN

This is a song by ELLEGARDEN that made big headlines when they returned in 2018 after a 10-year hiatus.
They have other tracks under three minutes as well, but I chose this one because the Japanese lyrics make it easy to sing at karaoke.
If you like band-driven sounds, be sure to check out Red Hot and Make A Wish too!
mottoJUDY AND MARY
JUDY AND MARY were a hugely active female-vocal rock band, especially in the ’90s.
Many of you probably listened to their songs a lot during your youth.
This is an up-tempo track, about three minutes long.
It’s a refreshing, fast-paced song that I recommend for women who like rock!
Absolute relationshipRed Park

This song, which was also the theme song for the drama Lost Days, is a track by the all-girl band Akai Koen.
Lasting 100 seconds, its music video features a stylish countdown up to 100.
The vocals have a wide pitch range and a fast tempo, so it might not be the easiest to sing, but it’s cool—so if you’re confident, give it a try!
Philadelphia fleabaneYOASOBI

YOASOBI is a music duo that’s been creating a huge buzz in the domestic music scene.
Among their songs, this one is relatively short at about 3 minutes and 15 seconds, with roughly 15 seconds of intro, so the actual singing lasts around 3 minutes—making it an easy choice in length for karaoke.
Even within such a compact track, their signature style of composing based on novel stories truly shines, expressing the narrative through every element of the music, including the lyrics, melody, and key changes.
revolutionandymori

Although the band has already disbanded, this is a song by the three-piece rock band andymori.
It’s a simple, unadorned track, but the passionate lyrics that evoke youthful days leave a strong impression.
It’s only about two minutes long, so make sure to pour plenty of passion into your singing!

snow jamRin-ne

A signature song by Rin-ne, a rapper gaining attention among young people.
It’s a mellow, chill track with striking lyrics that portray a sweet-and-sour love story.
Since it’s rap, the amount of lyrics might feel a bit heavy, but the runtime is only about three minutes, so it’ll likely feel quite short once you try singing it.
Also, most parts other than the chorus are rap, making it easier to tackle even if you’re not confident in your singing.
Focus on riding the track’s rhythm as you perform!
Hyokkori Hyoutan-jimaYoko Maekawa

This is the theme song from Hyokkori Hyotan-jima, which aired in the 1960s.
Since it has been rebroadcast and covered by other artists, many of you have probably heard it.
It’s a song that ends in about a minute, so it’s easy to sing casually!
