heartAlstake

Arstake is a three-piece rock band from Okayama.
They may not be widely known nationwide yet, but within the Japanese rock scene they’ve already gained attention from many enthusiasts as a band whose sound really hits home.
Among Arstake’s songs, the one I especially recommend is Kokoro (Heart).
It features a straightforward melody and lyrics that evoke 2000s rock.
The vocal lines also follow that musical approach, coming together in a simple, direct progression.
Blue SpringRADWIMPS

A perfect friendship song for going to karaoke with your buddies is Aoi Haru.
It’s a track from RADWIMPS’s memorable first album, RADWIMPS.
It’s a refreshing, rock-tinged piece whose lyrics depict deep bonds and affection among friends.
Singing this one is sure to set a warm, relaxed mood.
Note that the first half of the song starts in English, so be aware of that.
That said, the English parts are relatively few, so even those who aren’t confident in English should be able to sing it well.
We GoKetsumeishi

A track included on Ketsumeishi’s 13th album, Ketsunopolis 13, released in January 2024.
It was reportedly written as the theme song for the drama Jeanne’s Judgment.
The song was released digitally in advance of the album.
Throughout, it has a pleasant groove that imparts a gently heartwarming atmosphere.
The vocal range and the melody themselves don’t demand particularly advanced singing technique or a wide range, so in that sense it’s a song that should be quite easy for anyone to sing.
However, precisely because of that, if the relaxed, expansive groove is lost in the vocal delivery, the song can fall flat.
When you sing it, pay close attention to how you feel the rhythm and the beat.
Lights Out feat. Jeremy QuartusNulbarich

Nulbarich is a band that has gained popularity for its stylish musicality.
The band name is pronounced “Narubaricchi” (Nulbarich).
Their signature sound incorporates elements of Black music such as neo-soul and R&B, and they consistently release sophisticated, slightly ennui-tinged tracks.
Among Nulbarich’s songs, a particularly recommended one is “Lights Out feat.
Jeremy Quartus.” It’s a neo-soul number with strong jazz and hip-hop flavors, sung within a narrow vocal range throughout.
Because the vocal line’s dynamics are very gentle, even teenage boys whose voices tend to be unstable should be able to sing it without trouble.
HeartbeatC&K

C&K is a vocal duo that has gained popularity for their genre-less musical style.
Sometimes they draw from Black music like disco and R&B, and other times from folk and kayōkyoku, showcasing a wide range of influences.
Their new song “Heartbeat” blends a sound that brings gospel and hip-hop into J-pop.
The word “gospel” might sound intimidating, but while the overall structure resembles it, the vocal melody itself is orthodox pop, making it surprisingly easy to sing.

Winter LightningAlice

Released in October 1977, this song by Alice—now a legendary new music group—was their first to break into the top ten.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the song’s success helped spark the new music boom of the time.
Songs from the 1970s through the early 1990s often have simple, catchy melodies that are easy to remember and sing, making this era a treasure trove of karaoke-friendly tunes.
You can harmonize as a duo like the original artists, or enjoy it fully as a solo—so please give it a try.
Rhyme Wave Phrase DisciplesCHEHON

The classic song “Inbaku-to” has been loved for many years.
It’s a signature work by reggae deejay CHEHON, and when it was released, it became an explosive hit in Osaka, the holy land of Japanese reggae.
Nowadays, with CHEHON active in the MC battle scene, it’s also gaining support from younger generations.
Although the track has a pleasant flow, it doesn’t feature particularly difficult phrases.
The vocal range is very narrow, so most men should be able to sing it without trouble.
