Karaoke songs recommended for men with low voices or who are good at singing in a low register
In recent years, Japan’s music scene has seen an increase in songs with lots of high notes, influenced by K-pop.
As a result, it’s become harder for men with lower voices to find songs that suit them.
So! We’ve selected recommended tracks specifically for men with deep voices.
We also considered how well these songs go over at karaoke, so if you’re planning to go with a group soon, be sure to check them out.

Recommended karaoke songs (191–200) for men with low voices and those good at singing in lower ranges
Ruby RingAkira Terao

This was Akira Terao’s sixth single, released on February 5, 1981.
It was a massive hit at the time and remains his biggest success, so as of July 2021, most people in their 50s and older are likely familiar with it.
Given that, it hardly needs an introduction, but the song was composed to make the most of Terao’s low, husky voice.
It’s a perfect choice for baritones to pick at karaoke.
Avoid making it sound too light—sing it in a way that fully showcases the charm of your proud low register!
Thanks, pal.Spitz

A track from Spitz’s 16th album “Mikke,” released in October 2019.
It’s introduced as having a “captivating deep voice,” but Masamune Kusano of Spitz doesn’t actually have a particularly low, deep voice.
If anything, it might be better to say it’s a song that’s easy to sing at karaoke even for those who struggle with high notes.
Some people may find the original key a bit high, but if you push your voice too much, you might spoil the atmosphere of the song.
In that case, try lowering the key a little.
I think the key to making it sound good is to keep your voice from getting shrill and to maintain a soft tone throughout.
excuseSharam Q

This is Sharan Q’s 10th single, released on April 24, 1996.
It was used as the theme song for Fuji TV’s Thursday drama Age, 35: Koishikute, and the opening titles of the show even featured scenes of the Sharan Q members performing.
As for Tsunku, the band’s vocalist, he has— in a good way— a kind of “everyman” vocal skill, and the vocal melodies often sit in a relatively low range.
That’s why their songs often make great choices for karaoke singers who are strong in the lower register.
However, precisely because of that, if you sing with a weak, unsupported tone, there’s a high risk it’ll become what you might call an “unconvincing” performance.
So be sure to focus on singing with proper chest resonance—using a solid chest voice—to make the sound carry.
Galaxy Express 999Isao Sasaki

The opening theme of the TV anime Galaxy Express 999 is sung by Isao Sasaki, whose wonderful low voice stands out.
Since it’s performed by Mr.
Sasaki, known for the appeal of his lower register, we featured it in this theme, but the soaring high notes in the chorus might be a bit challenging for those who struggle with higher pitches.
It might be best to lower the key enough that your prized low notes don’t become unstable.
The trick to making it sound good is to sing it in a rich, resonant, declarative style.

dearestMasaharu Fukuyama

This song by Masaharu Fukuyama was originally created for KOH+, the duo of Fukuyama and Kou Shibasaki, but the version I’m introducing today is his self-cover sung solo.
Fukuyama is known for his deep, gentle low voice, and it’s no exaggeration to say that this simple slow ballad showcases that charm to the fullest.
I think it’s also an excellent choice for men with lower voices to pick at karaoke.
When you sing it, try to keep your delivery consistently gentle so it never becomes rough.
GandharaGodiego

One of Godiego’s signature songs, released in October 1978.
For those who were around 50 years old as of 2019, many will likely remember it as the ending theme for the TV drama Journey to the West (Saiyuki).
It was reportedly Godiego’s first single with Japanese lyrics.
Like many Showa-era hits, this song has a very simple, singable melody, making it very approachable for anyone.
In the original key, men with lower voices might find the high notes in the chorus a bit challenging, so lowering the key can help.
Speaking of Godiego, Steve Fox’s low-register backing vocals were also memorable, so if you’re confident in your low range, it could be fun to try singing that part.
Family LandscapeHanaregumi

Hanaregumi is the solo project of Takashi Nagazumi, the vocalist of the Japanese funk band SUPER BUTTER DOG, which disbanded in September 2008.
This work is his first single, released in October 2002.
It’s a memorable track characterized by a folk-inspired style with prominent acoustic guitar and vocals that have a distinctive, almost spoken delivery.
Since the song doesn’t venture into extremely high notes, it’s relatively approachable for people who struggle with high registers in terms of key; however, capturing the unique “flavor” of his singing can be quite challenging.
Ideally, it’s a song you’d want to memorize the lyrics for and perform with a solid understanding of its world and atmosphere.
