Mr. Moonlightimase

[imase] Mr. Moonlight (Music Video)
Mr. Moonlight imase

This is the song used as the opening theme for the TV anime “Hotel Inhumans,” released on July 11, 2025.

It has a bit of a brisk tempo, so be sure to remember to take breaths between phrases.

Taking breaths will also help you lock into the rhythm of the song! In the chorus, there are lots of switches between chest voice and falsetto, so aim to sing without straining.

When you lift your facial muscles, your eyebrows will probably lift on their own—how about you? That expression is actually important: with a blank face, you’ll never hit the right pitch, and it becomes harder to produce high notes or falsetto.

Raising your facial muscles also makes switching between chest and falsetto much easier, so try singing with the image of lifting your facial muscles and resonating from the top of your head!

kaiju (giant monster)Sakanaction

Sakanaction the Kaiju

Regarding the opening theme of the TV anime “Chi.

: On the Movements of the Earth,” which has been airing since October 2024, I heard the song’s production actually ran into difficulties and the full-length digital release was postponed to the following year.

Because of that, the track has continued to generate buzz even after its release.

One of my students, who’s pretty good with high notes, also sang this song! The vocal range of “Kaijū” is F#3–B4, so I think it’s a relatively easy song for men to sing if they can use their falsetto effectively.

For songs like “Kaijū” that start abruptly, you want to clearly imagine the pitch before you produce the sound.

However, the initial “na” consonant is a nasalized sound and is actually quite tricky to deliver! Try projecting your voice more forward than you think you need to.

The rhythm is intricate, so if you keep a tight groove and sing with small, steady pulses, you should be able to sing freely and comfortably.

It’s a really cool track, so aim for a perfect score!

RunnerBakufū Slump

Bakufu Slump - Runner (High Quality)
Runner Bakufu Slump

It’s fair to say this is a signature song by Bakufu Slump, a rock band active in the ’80s and ’90s.

It remains very popular today, for example as a sports anthem.

Although the track has a fast pace, there are surprisingly few parts that require hitting high notes.

Like tonight's moonElephant Kashimashi

It’s Elephant Kashimashi’s 15th single, released on July 30, 1997.

It was produced as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “Because the Moon Shines at Night.” The song itself has a catchy mid-tempo groove, which makes it very singable rhythmically on its own.

As for the vocal part, there’s quite a bit of range, and singing it in the original key requires a strong high register.

That said, the melody itself isn’t complicated—it’s easy to hum.

So if you find and set a key that suits you, I think it’s an easy song to sing even for people who don’t usually sing much.

Singing with consistent power throughout, emphasizing a certain “masculine” quality, is probably the key to making it sound good.

Give it a try!

damnFujii Kaze

Fujii Kaze – damn(Official Video)
Damn, Fujii Kaze.

This is Fujii Kaze’s 11th digital single, released in September 2022.

Because Fujii Kaze’s singing style and phrasing are a bit distinctive, some people might think it seems difficult, but the vocal melody doesn’t cover a very wide range, so once you try singing it, I think many people will find it quite easy! Just be careful not to let the slightly swung beat become flat as you sing.

Listen closely to the drums in the backing track and make sure to lock in the snare accents on beats two and four as you sing.

BoyhoodYosui Inoue

This was Yosui Inoue’s 29th single, released in September 1990.

It carries a hint of 1970s folk—or rather, it has the character of a traditional school song.

The melody is very simple and straightforward, making it likely very easy for anyone to sing.

On the flip side, the way Inoue himself delivers such a simple song with remarkable depth—composer though he is—can only be described as impressive vocal and expressive ability.

It’s no wonder it was re-released years later (in 2008); it’s a classic worthy of that recognition.

Size of the kaijuback number

back number – The Size of the Monster
Kaiju size back number

This is the seventh digital-only single by back number, a Japanese three-piece rock band, released in August 2023.

It’s a refreshingly up-tempo rock track that leaves you feeling invigorated just by listening! That said, some people may find the high notes tough if they sing it in the original key, so feel free to lower the key and enjoy it.

Try singing it powerfully and rhythmically! Don’t sweat the small stuff—just enjoy “letting your voice out” and “singing”!
