Next Episode PreviewTatsuya Kitani

Singer-songwriter Tatsuya Kitani, who enjoys immense popularity among young people, continues to deliver hits with his unique musical style.
His new song, Jikai Yokoku (Next Episode Preview), leans heavily into comedy, featuring elements like a children’s chorus in parts of the track.
Although the structure is somewhat unconventional, the vocal range isn’t very wide and there aren’t many long sustained notes, so it’s actually easier to sing than it sounds at first.
With its upbeat groove, it’s likely to go over well at karaoke.
cherry blossomFUNKY MONKEY BABYS

The 10th single by the Japanese band FUNKY MONKEY BABYS, released in February 2009.
The melody, lyrics, arrangement, and even the vocals all come together to create a song that exudes a gentle, springlike warmth.
I feel that even those who aren’t confident singers could casually hum and sing along to this track.
In fact, avoiding a more forceful, full-throated style of singing might better preserve the original mood.
If possible, memorize the lyrics and sing with a simple, unadorned touch while picturing the scenes in the song’s world—doing so may help you express the song’s atmosphere more fully.
I'd rather die.Fujii Kaze

This is a track from Fujii Kaze’s 1st album “HELP EVER HURT NEVER,” which was released in May 2020.
It has a slightly languid vibe that’s quite appealing.
The vocal melody sits mostly in the lower range and isn’t very wide, so I think it’s relatively easy to sing even for those who aren’t confident singers.
Since the track’s key feature is its trap-style beat, be careful not to let the vocal rhythm become flat.
In the final chorus the melody jumps up an octave, so if you’re not comfortable singing in falsetto, try keeping the same melody but aim your voice toward your upper palate; it should make your tone sound a bit brighter.
Of course, it’s also helpful for developing your falsetto, so I recommend it as a practice piece as well.

Sing, sky of JapanSouthern All Stars

This is Southern All Stars’ fifth digital-only single, released in August 2023.
Incidentally, the previous single, “Bongiri Koiuta,” and the next single, “Relay ~ Mori no Uta,” are said to form a trilogy with a shared theme.
This song alone conjures up the refreshing summer seaside air and a relaxed flow of time.
The vocal melody and the range used aren’t very wide, making it a gentle tune you can casually hum and enjoy, so it should be easy for anyone to sing.
Please relax your shoulders and enjoy it.
It might even be a song that helps those who usually feel reluctant to sing rediscover the joy of singing!
POISONTomoyasu Hotei

When it comes to songs everyone knows and can belt out the chorus to, “POISON” is the one.
Its intense, straight-ahead groove lets even those who struggle with keeping rhythm power through on sheer momentum.
The key isn’t very high, so even people who aren’t confident singers will be fine!
spring hazeCats are liquid.

A four-piece rock band from Kyoto, Neko wa Ekitai (Cats Are Liquid).
Centered on orthodox Japanese rock, their work has been drawing attention in the scene.
Among their tracks, the one I especially recommend is Harugasumi (Spring Haze).
Most of this song sits in the low to mid range.
If you adjust the key, you can really bring out the richness and warmth of a male voice.
Be sure to add it to your repertoire.
Song of SpringSpitz

It’s Spitz’s 30th single, released in April 2005.
It was issued as a double A-side with “Teku Teku.” True to its title, it’s a song with a comfortably breezy rhythm and tempo that evokes the fresh winds of spring, and vocalist Kusano’s clear singing further enhances that refreshing feel.
In the original, the key is set slightly high for an average male singer to make the most of Kusano’s clear high tones, but aside from that, the vocal melody and phrasing are simple and easy to remember, making it a very singable song for karaoke.
When you sing it, do a little prep and find the key that suits you best.
